Hello, I am filing a formal complaint because my efforts to directly contact Microsoft/MSN were not successful. Neither Microsoft nor MSN responded to my support requests. My e-mail was hacked in October 2024, and the hacker enabled 2FA. I have been unable to get into my email account, and am extremely concerned about the hacker's access to my personal information. Microsoft/MSN has been extremely unhelpful/unresponsive in helping me recover my account. I'd like to recover my account (and the hacker removed). Thank you.Business Response

I was talking with Microsoft support chat today because each and every time I try to sign into my Outlook account, I am met with a sign in blocked message. Each time I try to reset the password, I am met with a youve used an old password error. I am already forced to use a password I do not want because I have filed a previous complaint about this last year. I was told that the complaint was being transferred to a specialized team to resolve the issue, and then no one even attempted to contact me. I am once again asking the same question after I was told tonight that I would be transferred to another department, and then the chat went dead. Why can I not just use the password I want? Ive had the same password for years before this bizarre issue started happening.Business Response

I have tried to resolve an issue with Spam mail with Support twice with no resolution. Within 48 hours, my web outlook had been flooded ( hundreds of emails per day) with spam in my focused inbox. Most of the legitimate emails are now in " other". Surprisingly, on my ************** app, the emails are appropriately labeled, and there is no problem. Support was not able to resolve the issue, and on the last attempt, the representative made no effort to understand or fix the problem and would not elevate the concern to a supervisor.Business Response

On 3/27/2025 I went to the *** store in ********, ********. I asked what was the best Microsoft phone number for a problem with my Hotmail account. The *** employee gave me a phone number for Microsoft technical support, which I proceeded to call. ****** ****** answered that call under the pretense of being a Microsoft employee. He then said he would call me back. The number he called from was ************. He then asked for information to fix the Microsoft Hot Mail account. I gave him my name, **** ********, phone number, ************, address, *****************************************. I did not give him any additional personal information. He then asked for remote access to my **** laptop with McAfee virus protection. He then proceeded to take funds from accounts, stating that to solve the hacking problem with my Hotmail account he needed to make a transfer, then return it shortly thereafter, to catch the hackers of the Hotmail account. He actually did transfer and return to my checking account later that day with Elevations ************ on March 28, 2025. On Monday, March 31, I noticed funds missing from my checking account and went to the credit union to report. The hacker took funds from my ***** account, **** credit card and Crypto account with Elevations ************. They informed me I was a victim of fraud and was hacked. I have since reported to the ************************** and am in the process of contacting *** Legal, Microsoft and McAfee and reporting to CBI and BBB to rectify and recompensate my loss of $11,000. All bank accounts, credit cards, auto pay and passwords have been changed as of this date. In my opinion, the *** employee that gave me the phone number for ******** Technical Support is to blame what initiated this fraud taken upon my personal accounts.Business Response

I have an Xbox account that I have unfortunately been locked out of, I have had the same account for over ********************************************************************************************************************************* I forgot it and attempted to reset the password when it asked me for a phone number that I no longer have and the last 4 numbers of a card that I no longer have to reset the password. I have the device id and still have the account on my **********************, and I still have access to the email that I made the account with. The password reset process is very frustrating and when I attempted to call support they could only direct me to the forum that I have already tried and could not pass. I have spent HUNDREDS if not thousands of dollars on that account and it is very unfortunate that I am unable to recover my account because of this difficult process that they have in place.Business Response

Dear **** *******,
Thank you for contacting Microsoft Corporation via the Better Business Bureau regarding your grievance. We contacted the enforcement team due they are the only department can revoke Xbox bans, they provide the following information:
After investigating, we have determined that the reported account was not compromised. The accounts messaging indicates that this account was involved in Marketplace Theft. The account was also active on multiple devices engaging in similar behavior. As such, we are not lifting the suspension, as this behavior was not due to a possible ATO event.
Considering this information, we will be closing this complaint as theres no further action we can take regarding this case. For additional information please contact the directly: **********************************************
