I am submitting a formal complaint against Marq, operating under the name "Lucid," for their ongoing fraudulent billing practices, which have been reported in 10 BBB complaints since 2022 and continue to harm consumers. On [specific date], I canceled my subscription well in advance of the renewal deadline. Despite this, Marq charged my credit card $600 the next day. I provided evidence of my cancellation and contacted customer support immediately, but after three days, I still have not received a refund or any acknowledgment from the company. This unauthorized charge has caused me significant financial harm. The $600 charge is currently blocking the credit limit on my card, preventing me from using it for essential expenses. This has created undue stress and inconvenience that could have been avoided had Marq honored my cancellation. I demand: An immediate refund of the $600 charged without authorization. Compensation equal to the same amount ($600) as a reparation for the financial harm and inconvenience caused by their practices. A full investigation into Marq's operations and billing systems, including legal monitoring to ensure this does not happen to others. A requirement for Marq to submit proof of compliance and system improvements to prevent further abuse of this kind. This is not an isolated incident. A colleague experienced the same fraudulent charge after canceling their plan. It is evident that Marq relies on a systematic approach to charging consumers even after cancellations, knowing that many customers may not notice or dispute these charges. Given their record of 10 similar complaints since 2022, it is clear this practice is deliberate and designed to exploit consumers. The BBB must intervene to stop this mass fraud and protect future customers from being victimized. This company’s actions are unacceptable, and I urge the BBB to act swiftly and decisively to hold Marq accountable.Initial Complaint

Date of billing: February 4 2024 Amount: 95.70 Account with Lucid is under *********************, but the email I use normally is ********************. Enrolled online for the monthly rate, but billed for the whole year upfront. It was advertised as a monthly rate when signing up and did not see anywhere that it is billed upfront for the whole year. I contacted Lucid support on March 5, 2024 and they said :Our annual plan is $7.95/month, billed in one lump sum for a total of $95.40/year (7.95 x 12 equals 95.40). Our monthly plan is $9.95/month, billed each month." It's a deceitful practice to advertise a monthly rate and bill for the whole year. I wanted to design a floor plan, but it was not intuitive and lacked some icons for designing a floor plan. I have paid someone else to design my floor plan since then.Initial Complaint

Lucidchart has charged me $101.36 two years in a row (most recent July 27, 2023). While I did accept a 7 days free trial two years ago they continue to charge me with no notices and when I inquired about the charges and to ensure my trial was canceled they state they have no record of the charges or my account. Basically they are charging me annually and are not even confirming what the service is I am unknowingly purchasing.Initial Complaint

Discovered yesterday 11/8/22 that I had been billed $10.61 every single month since November 25,2020. For 2 years this company has been charging without ever sending an email, confirmation of subscription, updated info etc. NOTHING! I did not sign up for their services, did not use their product other than the free version for 1 document over 2 years ago for school project. This is a predatory billing company with numerous similar scams on other people just like me that I am now seeing online. Googling “Lucid chart scam” I quickly found my unauthorised credit card charges for several years were not isolated experiences. They apparently market project management tools but seems they may also be gathering unauthorised data and a great deal of financial information. Their customer service will only apply a 1 time $10.61 refund which is not acceptable for 2 years of charges.Initial Complaint

I signed up to use the "Free" product to make a graph, the invoice I had over 1yr ago said that I would be charged if I didn't cancel, a fee under $100 (see attached email/Invoice). I recently found out that I my card was left on file with them and they charged over $500 3/2021 and again this year. I never authorized them to take over $100 out of my account. I only realized the charges this late because I don't use the card thats on file with them and I have an automatic payment plan. I would like a full refund and the company told me that they will not refund me because it is over 30 days. Misleading information on Invoice/Email and I NEVER would have paid for a service that I never use. I purchased a one year subscription to LucidChart in 3/2021. Buried in the terms of service was the fact that this was a recurring subscription. I was charged an additional $90+ in 2022. I believe this does not serve the individual but serves this company's profit margin. I have tried to get back the money as I did not use the service at all in 2022. I want a refund from Lucid Chart for unused services. I had to use their software for a school project, and had to sign up for a 1 year membership. I don't want the membership. If they want to keep the money for the portion of the year that's fine, but I want my membership immediately cancelled and membership fees for the remaining portion of the year refunded. I also don't want them to have my credit card on file anymore either. I don't have the right to store my information.
