I have taken my cars to various Maxi Autos in the Chattanooga area since 2014. I've been to Red Bank and Hixson. I have never had an issue until I visited this location. I went in for a routine front brake/rotor replacement. When I got the car back, the brake pedal would go to the floor. I waited a week to see if maybe they needed to be "worn in". Nope, called and spoke with *****, he advised me to bring the car back in and they would check it. I did...they told me they were re-bled and I should see improvement in a few days (or driving 50 miles or so). I did that. Brake pedal still going to the floor. So I called several other mechanic shops and consulted with my mechanic friends. Everyone said the same thing. The brakes were not bled properly, the booster seal is busted, or the master cylinder was messed up. I called ***** back at Maxi and explained my findings. He told me to bring the car back in. I did..for the 3rd time. Now he tells me they DIDN'T bleed the brakes, and were not liable b/c they did the Auto bleed and did not do a manual bleed....crazy b/c every other mechanic I have spoken to manually bleeds the brakes. They messed up my car, and refuse to take accountability for their mistake. I know to you I'm just an unhappy client, but I work 80 hours a week to make ends meet, and spending $535 dollars for NOTHING is a big deal. I don't have extra money, I trusted you to do a simple job and now I do not feel safe driving my car, which is how I get to WORK 80 hours a week....and with your screw up I can't even drive my car until I save more money to go to another mechanic, which will take months. I didn't ask for much, just some dang brakes and you completely dismissed your mistake and spoke to me like I am some dumb girl who has never had her car worked on. I have never in my 30 years of driving had this happen. This is not right, at all and you know it *****. You know your mechanic messed up and kept giving me the run around like I'm stupid. I do not feel safe driving that car, and now I have to cancel my summer trip that I have spent the last YEAR saving for b/c you don't want to eat the cost for repairing my car b/c it might mess with your store numbers....What ever happened to good people? Doing the right thing, being honest and taking responsibility? But hey, at least your sales look good, right? Even at the expense of the consumer? The TCP act has been violated here...Business Response

We are very sorry to read ********* frustration. There were a couple things on the vehicle that we fixed, at no charge on the front end. As a courtesy, we fixed the battery hold down bracket. We are a little surprised because when we spoke with ******* he seemed satisfied the entire time he was at our 58 location. As noted on the invoice, we installed the control arms per customer request. He declined diagnostics, which would help us determine on the front end if there were any other issues with the vehicle that need address. We also guarantee all of our work, so we would happily help ******* out at one of our 8 locations and address the control arms installation at that time, at no cost.Initial Complaint

I initially sought services on 9/8 in regards to a high speed vibration that felt unsafe. I was told that I needed new control arms as the business were worn out. I was charged 1,115$ for parts and labor I had no issues for ~3 weeks and then a clunking noise started happening at low speeds when stopping and taking off. After doing everything I could to determine the cause of the noise and consulting two mechanically inclined friends who both said it sounded like control arm noise, I took it back to Maxi so they could determine the cause. They had the vehicle from October 4th - 9th while I was out of town. When I returned I called them and asked what they had found out, they said they were still unsure and needed more time. I told them I would need the car and would seek a second opinion elsewhere. I received a call within an hour and was told that I needed all 4 struts replaced for a total of 2000$. I declined. I purchased 2 front struts myself and changed them on 10/11, the next day I brought my car to Highland tire & auto for an alignment. They determined the cause of the new noise to be an impromperly fastened left control arm and fixed the issue during a routine alignment. I took the documentation to Maxi in person, and even in the face of clear evidence they still denied any wrongdoing and insisted they had done a thorough inspection. It is my opinion that Maxi Auto (*** Bank location) is operating dishonestly and unsafely and that they should be investigated whether or not my refund is honored.Business Response

Tell us why here...In my opinion this customer is warranted a partial refund of 521.95 which is the labor and the alignment on the previous repair. The fact that the noise was not present for 3 weeks indicates that the control arms fixed the issue and a fastener loosened up indicated by the other repair facility. The customer still has the parts installed on the vehicle (control arms) and did give us an opportunity to correct the situation.
If this is acceptable we will send him a check for this amount.Customer Answer

I took my car there to replace the clutch. When they told me to come pick it up I drove it about 2 miles and heard a popping sound when I mashed the clutch. I went back to Maxi Muffler in Red Bank,TN. And told **** the Supervisor about it and he test drove it. He test drove it about half a mile and the Ball Joint fell out of it! Well, they fixed that problem and I drove the car for about two weeks and kept hearing a squealing noise. I realized while looking under the hood that the bolts were not torqued down all the way where the transmission attaches to the motor. Also there was a gap between the motor and transmission. I took the car back to them and the Supervisor looked at it and told me that the mechanic had left a metal bracket in there! The supervisor torqued down the bolts and closed the gap. They put my life in Jeopardy not once but twice! Now my transmission is making an awful grinding noise from their sloppy work. Probably ruined my car. I'm glad it didn't cause me to wreck and hurt someone or myself. I'm very upset and I want my money back! I paid $1025 to replace my clutch and this is what they done. I also took pictures.
