I sent an expensive ******* engine to Carolina Machine Engines over on year ago. I have spoken to the owner Mike S*** many times over the phone since then. My engine was supposed to be completed n 3 months. Every couple of weeks I called and there was another excuse about not being able to acquire parts which I checked were readily available on the shelf to employee problems. So I bought parts and sent them directly to him and was told my engine would be done in two weeks. That was two months ago. Now they have a message on their answering machine telling they are closed for storm damage. They will not return calls or emails. I spoke to the sheriff's department in area, and they told me they have had many calls and complaints and there was no major storm damage to that building and all other buildings close by that area are operating normally. They also told me this has been going on for over a year and they have had several people come to the shop to try to recover their engines and parts. This is obviously a scam, and the owner should be ashamed to keep his web site up and stealing money and parts from innocent people.

Carolina Machine Engines built a *** engine for me. They failed to clean out the oil pan of sludge and caused the oil pump to fail after 14,000 miles. This was 2,000 miles outside of the warranty. I reached out to them by email with no response. It is terrible that a shop would not make sure a freshly built engine was clean of all contamination when assembled. This has cost me a failed oil pump and a ticking lifter due to the loss of oil pressure. I have spent more than $1,000 and need to spend more than $1,000 more to correct what problems we have found so far. Why stay in business if you do not care what you sell your customers?

Steer clear of Carolina Machine Engines. In January of 22’ CME received and started to refurbished a motor for my truck, telling me it was an 8-12 week project. In august (28 weeks later) of 22’ the motor was finally sent back. My shop installed it in October and off I went. This is not a daily driver so it took a couple of months to break it in. I got less than 2000 miles on it before it started clacking (bad ticking which I have a time stamped video of January and February of 23’) and overheating so I brought it back to my shop where they finally heard the clacking. (April 23’) They did a bunch of tests and found it was chewing itself up (metal in the oil), and lacking on both bottom and top end oil pressure. So, my mechanic removed the engine ($1700 cost) and sent it back to them. CME had the motor for 5 months so in September (23’) I contacted them to ask how I can how I can help expedite this process. They told me $2000 for parts. I asked for an invoice (they sent an email with links ****** ****** and an invoice) to pay and immediately paid. A month later, I ask for an update, they tell me “parts problems, they should be here soon”. I know they are getting the parts from ****** ****** as I was sent the invoice, and in December ****** showed that these parts were available. I contacted CME in January (24’) to hear, “should have parts in soon” again in March, same story. I finally got an email in April after I expressed my frustration telling me it should be done in 2 weeks, that was over a month ago. I have emailed them 3 more times and finally (5-14-24) received another excuse about where they should be getting parts. (5-20-24) After forwarding the email which I was originally sent (9-12-23) showing parts to be ordered from ****** ******. I have not seen any reply. I will be pursuing legal remedies.

Solid performance, do what they say and get things done. Engine for my truck just went on the dyno and produced more HP than advertised. It did take a long time to build but I get the challenges any business has today. Despite this the business stayed in contact with me and kept me informed. In the end they delivered. Be careful of those that may be disgruntled by their performance because in the end they deliver.

We at CME are happy to see another satisfied customer. Performance engines take awhile to get perfect because they require special and tedious care. Supply chain issues are a big issue also but we have been able get our engines done. We very much appreciate our valued customers.
