This business is posing as the government, sending instructions to complete and sign the attached business entity report, along with mandating a check for $160 for a "CPS processing fee." It is clearly manipulative and seeks to try to trick unsuspecting business owners. Fortunately, I checked the the Indiana website to verify that this was not affiliated with them. CPS FILING SERVICES in ********** is sending letters to business owners stating they need to file the annual Statement Of Information costing $195.00. They state penalties for not filing, and they make it look exactly like a state of California letter, which is confusing if I have already filed. NOWHERE do they state they are a third party service and that they are not the State of California, even though the aim of their letter is obviously to impersonate the state and make me think I must now pay them.Business Response

These despicable people use public records to target new small business owners to scam them out of money, time and energy. CPS solicited me to file my BOI with them whereas filing is free via ****** using inflammatory language meant to scare you with late fees. However, their real target is your personal and business information which can include: Your passport data + photo copy, your drivers license, your EIN and home address, your social security ************* them any one of those can cause untold damage to your livelihood. Do not trust them and allow them to use your information to potentially commit fraud, such as: Opening lines of credit on your personal/business accounts, selling your data to other 3rd parties, stealing your identity or committing tax fraud with your ******'s astounding how they're still in operation after 8 years of reporting them to state and federal agencies. I would report this phishing scam directly to their domain host (***********) as WHOIS will not show the real perps due to GDPR. Like all of the complaints against this business, please add my voice to CPSs misleading solicitation to file my annual certificate. The letter looks like a government form and tells you to send their company money (above the actual state fee) to file your annual report for you and asks for a response 3 months before the form is due to the state. It is actually a deceptive solicitation from a private company trying to get you to pay for their *********************** their standard response to each complaint here, they state they legitimately offer this filing service for a fee. Great, but then if you have a service that is beneficial, why not legitimately and openly ask for business?I encourage anyone looking for CPSs BBB rating and reading these complaints to report the misleading solicitation to your Secretary of State or Attorney General. State agencies will send out warnings to business owners when they know these solicitation letters are circulating. This "business" sends the Annual Report for ************ in ******. They send out a letter that looks official and can easily trick anyone. They charge $225 for filing something that costs $100. They clearly play on people's vulnerability and/or element of surprise/stress. I received the same exact soliciting letter from them in the last 3-4 weeks. I received in the mail a letter that APPEARS to be a government form for renewal of annual LLC certificate. I understand because of my attention to detail that there is a statement in caps and a small sentence at the end of the paragraph that notate that this is for the annual fee AND a filing fee so that C.P.S. will file your annual cert for you, but you should not have those statements on the form itself. You should have an introduction flyer separate from the form that rotates we are a company that files forms on behalf of people and therefore charge a filing ******* should not rely on the gullibility of others and their lack of attention to detail as a business model. This company is here to scam people. I called the actual county number and they are aware of it but said there is nothing they can do. I got a letter saying it was time to renew my annual LLC certificate and requesting info and payment. It looks legit and has a local address so I almost did it but then had a gut feeling and called the Secretary of State who confirmed this is a scam they are aware of. A company by the name of C.P.S. at ******************************************************************************************** contacted me by mail posing as an official entity asking me to renew filing with the OK Secretary of State. They quoted Oklahoma Statute Title 18 ******. They indicated that I needed to complete my annual certificate for my LLC. The normal fee is around $25, but they were trying to charge me $160. That's when I figured this was a scam. Of course, I paid them 0. They are not in any way a government entity and I wonder how many business owners they have scammed out of their money. I do not want these con-artists to contact me. I see that the BBB has already seen similar filings from other states.
