This contractor abandoned his bankrupt business, taking our money with him. He left us with massive debt and an unlivable home. We saved for this for years. The home renovations were designed to accommodate my disabilities from a stroke including handicapped access entry, kitchen, bedroom and bath. Two months into the project, work stopped after demolishing much of the existing structure, leaving our home exposed without a complete roof and siding removed. The contractor abandoned our home and other projects and fled to *****, ********, near ******. He took $184,884 of our money with him. We were too trusting as we prepaid for his materials and labor, which were never delivered. This contractor came with references and was a member of our community.A lien has been placed on our title for unpaid lumber in the amount of $28,224. We needed to repair the roof, repair the siding, install windows, the kitchen cabinets, the floors, insulation, drywall, electrical, and heating, which is estimated to require an additional $160,000. Some of the work he did do (maybe ALL of it) has needed to be redone since the first time I posted this appeal 6 months ago. The engineered trusses were cut by his workmen thereby voiding their certification and they needed to be strengthened to meet building codes. The rough framing of the entryway was not built according to our architect's detailed plans and had to be removed and rebuilt.Load bearing walls were weakened without proper support which we had to pay to have remedied. The boiler was never drained and, since this 3-month project has extended to 19 months - right through the winter - radiators froze and cracked, needing replacements while water poured into the basement, causing damage to items we had moved there during construction. Last week we learned that several wires were cut for the living room sconces. This picture is not him, but it says it is.
