Signed contract with Legacy Building Group January 6, 2022. Contract value $108,471.09; Contract Scope: add 10 ft addition onto main floor bedroom; 6 ft addition to bathroom; 10 ft new mudroom; 24X24 garage. Provided initial payment of $27,117 on January 13, 2022 and 2nd payment of $27,117 on March 25, 2022. Shortly after 2nd payment a variance issue arose with the home addition portion of the project. I agreed with ***************************, CEO of Legacy Building Group to divide the project into two phases. 1. Build garage as a stand-alone building; we could get a permit right away and work the variance issue after the garage was completed. 2. Work the variance issue and complete the project. On March 24, I designated Legacy Building group as my Agent for obtaining permits. During the month of May multiple scheduled start dates were missed by Legacy for a variety of reasons. On June 3, prep-grading was started. On July 7, I wrote ****** advising that no one had been at our home to work on the project since June23. We had a large hole in our backyard and a pile of broken concrete in our driveway. ****** never actually replied to this letter. July 12, I went to Legacy offices only to learn that ****** was in some kind of mental rehab in ******** and that a building permit had never been approved for the project. I was able to resolve the permit issues myself. Footings were poured over a week ago and no one from Legacy now returns phone calls or e-mails. The person who was at Legacy on 7/12 was ***************** who said he was helping ****** manage the business now. He has since resigned. That same day I offered to take a $51,000 settlement from Legacy and close the project. Instead, they said they could get the garage completed. As of today, 8/22 all communication paths seem to be closed. We have a disaster in our yard and are out $54,000 with very few options. I hope you can help us.
