Atrocious application process. Applied for math tutoring position and completed all required subject matter tests and profile fields. Was contacted a week later with a generic " Independent Tutors failure to meet Wyzants platform vetting requirements." No specific issue detailed from business.

Terrible company. I hold a B.S. in psychology/computer science and an **** in IO Psychology. I passed multiple tests and then passed the background check. After I paid, they deactivated my account and their phone line is busy. This is a scam.

Got terminated as a student for "violating terms of service", asked to appeal, but they don't even ask you any questions, they don't tell you what got flagged on your account and the customer service line has "no ability to help" and they just "send it to the review team". The review team will just send you an email saying they "looked into it" and then say to not respond because there will be no one to help you. I used Wyzant to get help on my classes but now I can't. It took me months to find a suitable tutor that explains things to me in a way I understand and now I don't have any access. I want to know why they decided to terminate it and I want my chance to appeal. But they won't give it to you. Wyzant is a joke company that steals 25% from the tutors bottom line and then doesn't give support to their student accounts.

If you're a tutor, Wyzant (pronounced "Wise Ant") is NOT where you want to ****** I'm writing this because they terminated me as a tutor - full disclosure. They have a comprehensive bunch of agreements, and they said it's because of section 18b of the agreement. 18b reads as follows: "(b) Independent Tutors material breach of this Agreement, violation of the Wyzant Terms of Use or Tutor Payment Policies, or misuse of the Site. - WITHOUT hyperlinks to the other agreements. And how did they do this? They just DID IT. They sent me an Email saying they're "ending my access... effective immediately" becaue I supposedly violated the above, and then they ask for DOCUMENTS if I disagree! WHAT documents? To prove or disprove WHAT? And when I write back to ask, they say, "we're customer support - we don't have the ability to research"! NOW what? They say they've "conducted a review". Was I involved? Did they ask me ANYTHING? Did they give even PONE specific detail? NOTHING!These idiots are a JOKE, and a bunch of NEO-NAZIs. Tutors and students: AVOID WYZANT LIKE THE PLAGUE!!

I created an account by using my information on Wyzant to arrange a tutor ****** for my middle school kid. In Wyzant, to start the ****** booking process, the first step is to message the potential tutor. I asked my kid to draft the message to make the ****** goal more accurate, I reviewed and sent the message. Next thing I knew is my account got closed because " a student under the age of 18 has contacted a tutor". The email said "However, if you have a trusted adult contact us, we would be more than happy to help you find a tutor. You may contact Customer Support by simply replying to this email." So I replied the email because Wyzant's customer support number is not working during weekend, although they close my account over weekend! ********************** replied my email saying "Thank you for reaching out to us. Unfortunately, the Wyzant Customer Support Team does not have the ability to research or overturn the decision to close your account.". I had never seen any online platform with such bad customer service, and I am so glad that I hadn't got a chance to leave my payment information or book a ****** yet in Wyzant. This is pure fraud! Don't use Wyzant!

Wyzant is an excellent platform connecting students to tutors and providing a quite valuable service. It speaks volumes that there are only a few complaints among there millions of users.

I communicated with a tutor solely through chat, without any exchange of services or materials. The tutor admitted to using ChatGPT to write an article within 20 minutes, a task I did not request. Despite this, I was billed $350 and have contacted the support team multiple times over several weeks, but the bill remains unresolved. Do not provide your payment information to this company.

Same issue as other tutors are complaining about. They're completely opaque with their vetting process. So you spend, perhaps, a week putting up a really solid profiletaking their error-riddled tests, adding videos of you giving lessons, answering questions from students on their websiteand then they deactivate your account with zero explanation given. I have an Ivy-league degree and two master's (one in education). Quite horrible experience, and I wish I'd read all these reviews first.

This company doesn't care whether tutor blatantly double charges you (aka steals your $$), they just want their cut. My son took three English ******s w/ tutor, who immediately offered to do business outside of the Wyzant platform and I pay her directly. That was admittedly my mistake, but who doesn't want to save a few $$. I didn't expect her to double charge me after the fact, first time I had used the Wyzant service and didn't realize how shady they are. So anyways, it doesn't work out, I tell the tutor that we no longer want to continue, but since I paid her for third ****** directly, she submitted charges through Wyzant which made me pay an extra $54.50 for a ****** I had already paid her for! I contacted Wyzant and they were very nice over the phone but pretty much next day told me that they will not refund me. They don't care whether the tutor is double charging me. They don't care that their tutor is soliciting business outside of their platform. All they care about is getting their cut. So wrong!! DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. Tutors aren't even good, this was a five-star rated person! Unbelievable.

Wyzant apologizes if this student's experience was not as positive as anticipated. That said, per their admission, this student violated Wyzant's payment policies, which are in place to protect against situations such as these. Additionally, in looking into this situation further, the referenced duplicate ****** charge was voided by Wyzant and the amount was refunded to the student. While Wyzant cannot comment on any actions taken on a user's account, the established policies and procedures are taken very seriously.

Wyzant Tutoring Service leaves a great deal to be desired; and issues became much worse over the ten years that this former professor of business, economics, English, law, and critical thinking had tutored for Wyzant. My positive views & critiques, once requested by Wyzant, have now fallen on deaf ears and blind eyes at Wyzant; for example, the firm blocks all direct emails between students and tutors, apparently fearing Wyzant will not get its "cut" of tutoring fees, which shows deep distrust of its own tutoring staff! Forcing tutors and students to use outmoded and awkward Wyzant messaging to communicate is truly shameful! Further: Wyzant tries to hide the fact that many tutoring applications are never even sent on to students, in order to avoid "confusing them" according to Wyzant. Then, when a tutor tries to provide useful input to Wyzant, not only is that input either rejected out-of-hand or totally ignored -- but, even worse, Wyzant retaliates and "hides the tutor's profile" as punishment for making such constructive proposals.STUDENTS AND TUTORS SHOULD THINK TWICE BEFORE USING THE WYZANT TUTORING SERVICE; THEY MAY LEARN MUCH BETTER ELSEWHERE, SUCH AS WITH A TRUSTWORTHY, TRUSTING TUTORING SERVICE WHICH IS FAIR AND OPEN TO IDEAS AND PROPOSALS; WYZANT IS NEITHER! BEWARE BEFORE SIGNING UP FOR WYZANT!
