I hired Moving Made Easy to move me from ***************** to ****** on 5/28/24. Upon arrival at my new home in ****** it was discovered that they had NOT packed up and moved the leaf to my dining room table nor the 48" glass top to my patio table. That night it was also discovered that they had broken my Christmas outdoor lamp decoration (valued at apx $200). When paying them they promised they would go back and get my dining room table leaf and glass top to the patio table. I texted the owner that evening that this needed to be done on 5/29/24. And told him in that text the the broaken part of my Xmas decoration was on their truck. The *********************** sale would finalize and turn over to the new owners on 5/30/24. I call him on 5/29/24 and left a message...he texted back that he would call me shortly.....he NEVER called me that day (5/29/24) or the next (5/30/24). As the sale of the home was closing 5/30/24 (noon) I had to get family help with a truck to go back and get the 2 items that the movers did NOT pack / did NOT move. The owner called me on 5/31/24 which was too late as the sale of the house was finalized by that time and thus it was necessary for me to go get the items myself with help from family. At this time he said he had the broken part to my Xmas decoarion and would get it back to me. After repeated follow *** for this broken part (to see if the Xmas decoration could be repaired) he told me on 6/26/24 that it had been thrown away and he no longer had it. On 6/26/24 he texted me that he would be sending me $300 to cover the $200 broken Xmas decoration plus a $100 for my inconvenience. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A ***** FROM THEM!!! They didn't finish the job that I paid $1,788.75 (check #****) for nor did they earn the $200 cash tip I gave them.. I was trusting they would hold true to their word and go back and get the items. At a minimum I want the $300 refunded as promissed. But I also feel the $200 tip should also be returned.

    Business Response

This was a very unfortunate situation - and by no means are we making excuses for this. We never received the first two notices of this complaint. The address the notices were sent to is not our address. We did not receive notice until the 3rd notice which was on August. 18th. We would have responded quicker however, we had to travel to ****** to deal with family medical issues.

We have sent an apology letter to ********************* with a refund check of $500.00 - refund the amount of $200.00 for the broken Christmas decor, $100.00 as promised for the inconvenience and the tip amount of $200.00 - total of $500.00.

This is not how we would like to handle our business with clients and we are extremely disappointed and will absolutely do better moving forward.
