I had taken a Data analytics and Business intelligence course at Syntax technologies from July of 2021 to November 2022. As per my enrollment agreement I signed on 6/8/2021, once I had accepted a job offer, I was required to pay part 2 of my tuition. Part 2 of my tuition would be 100% of my first month salary before taxes. Once I received an offer letter, I forwarded it to the data placement team at Syntax Technology and was told that I was required to pay a $4000 placement fee, despite the fact I was only working 15 hours a week at a rate of $25/hour. My first pay for June 2022(I was paid monthly) was $1508.77. When I tried reaching out to Syntax about the fee I never received a response. In November 2022 I was surprised to learn that they had emailed my sister regarding the status my account and provided her with detailed information which included the outstanding balance. I had called and expressed my concern regarding the email they sent her and about how the amount they requested exceeded what was in the enrollment contract. I was told they would share my concerns with ***** (the owner), the next day I received an email stating that my new placement fee would be $2000. I had expressed the same concern about the amount exceeding what was in the enrollment contract and was ignored. On 5/19/2023, I received a phone call from my sister stating that Syntax had contacted her and was sending my file to collections, since I owed $2000 and that lawyers would be involved and that I would have to pay their filing and legal fees on top of the $2000 that was owed. I found it highly inappropriate and unprofessional that they would discuss my account with my sister who had no financial responsibility for the account and to go into such great detail.
