I registered for a summer class and after 1-2 weeks I dropped this course and I am being told I am not entitled to a refund. It was only one course and about $1500. I want this to be refunded or even given a partial refund. It’s not fair to still be charged if I only was in the course for a week or two. Student ID#*********

Utah State University violated the Terms and Conditions (attached below) of the scholarship agreement. USU failed to disclose that acceptance of the Alumni Legacy Nonresident Waiver replaces Academic Scholarships. Details: USU told me that I would qualify for a $15,000 Academic Scholarship, however when I contacted USU I was told that I cannot combine the Scholarships, which is never disclosed in the Terms and Conditions of the Alumni Legacy Nonresident Waiver. I now need to spend an extra $15,000 and lose out on chances to attend other schools. (Terms and Conditions attached below)

I recently attended a USU (from which I've graduated), and there was a problem my last semester with my tuition. To make a long story short, their system made a mistake with my account, and after paying my billI was told that my tuition was paid for in full (and I even received a refund for the leftover student loan money) in error. Later, their system decided that I owed more for my tuition, but I didn't receive the notices that I owed money until after the semester was over (they were emailing a University email address that I never checked--instead of my primary email address listed). When I finally realized that I owed more in tuition, I spent many HOURS on the phone with the university. They were never able to understand or explain to me how their system made this error with my account. But they were sure I did owe the tuition, so I happily paid the tuition I owed. I retain all of the email and phone records. However, I didn't feel I should pay the $200 late fee, as it was atleast as much their fault as mine that this happened to my account. Most of the many people I spoke to at the university agreed with me about this, except for the Bursar. He offered to take off 1/2 of the late fees, I refused. I wanted all of the late fees removed. We left it at that, and I left the measely $200 on my account unpaid. They've since reported this to a collections agency, and I'm pretty mad, as I've already paid this university $12,000 for the program I was attending. The late fee was incurred on their system's error and I should not be held responsible for it.
