    Business Response

    Date: 01/14/2025

    Good Afternoon,

Mrs. T****** called State Tree on 9/27/2024 at 10:28am.  The proposal was accepted same day and our crews responded to her house within 3 hours.  Upon arrival the tree was uprooted from the neighbor's property and fell into Mrs. T******' roof.  Our crews took a bucket truck and a tractor and got started on the job.  The tree was so big that a second crew came to help assist with the job.  The original price was $9,000.00 which was accepted by Mrs. T****** on the same day.  Additional work was done that was not included in the price (a huge limb in the back yard removed) and a tarp was placed over the hole in the roof for free.  Mrs. T****** called and asked about the price being $9,000.00 and was given a discount bringing the price to $7,500.00 after the insurance company had already approved the $9,000.00 price. As noted on our invoice our payments are due upon receipt.  We did not receive Mrs. T****** payment until 11/6/2024. Please see picture and video for reference.

     Thank you

I received the BBB letter on 1/23/25 dated 1/15/25 as in answer to the complaint I filed.  Angela never received a proposal of any type written or verbal and there are 2 witnesses to this all decisions with State Tree employees were held in front of Her brother as she wanted everything to be clear as to what they were doing.  The first crew that was sent could not handle the job and left with another crew come several hours later.  they only came with a truck and chain saw 3 men.  the went onto roof and began cutting the limbs only-- the limbs are the only thing that was on the house and the insurance asked that they only remove what was on the house and leave in the yard for inspection by the adjuster that would be coming at a later date.  THEY ONLY REMOVED TREE LIMBS FROM THE HOUSE NOTHING ELSE NO TRUCK NO BODY OF THE TREE THIS WAS DONE BY SOMEONE ELSE. when the asked about bring a bucket truck to assist in making it easier to REMOVE THE LIMBS....THEY WERE TOLD NO THAT THE SEPTIC TANK AND SEPTIC LINES RAN IN THE FRONT YARD AND WE DID NOT ALLOW ANY DRIVING IN THE FRONT.  I have pictures showing them where the tank was and showing him how the lines ran so he understood not to drive in the front.  BUT THE DROVE THERE ANYWAY WITH OUT PERMISSION AFTER BEING TOLD NOT TO AND DAMAGED THE LINES.  There was a limb that was hanging from another tree it was already broken off and caught on another limb it was tied off to keep from falling they did not cut this limb only took it down from where it was hanging.  My brother in law had a trap and was going to put in on the roof.....they offered to put in on since the guy was there on the roof blowing it off. Upon leaving Angela asked how much the price would be the gentlemen who was there I am later told was the owner ask her is she want him to come back and clean up and get the rest of the tree up ...she asked the price and he told her since it was an emergency call it would be some where in the range of $2500.00 THAT INCLUDED coming back to clean up and finish the removal. At that time we were not sure what the insurance would and would not cover for this as our policy did not say and Angela told him that and that we would mist probably have to pay them.   The insurance company never approved  the $9000.00 price that day  they never spoke to my insurance company to my knowledge.  the only price ever discussed was the range of $2500.00 with the gentleman that was suppose to be the owner.   When Angela received the Invoice she called and asked why was this so high that was not what she was told on that day they CUT LIMBS ONLY NO TREE TRUNK NO GRINDING STUMP NO CLEAN UP.... 3 other men did show up when they were almost finished but only stood around looking at the other guys finish up. We did not pay until the 11/6/2024 because we were trying to get them to give us and itemized bill to show what was $9000.00 because we were very confused they only removed limbs from roof .... we had several other people look at what they did and they said it should have been around maybe at most 1500.00 since they did not do anything other than cut the limbs and drop in the yard also breaking several patio items. we have several pictures and will attached them... we were told if we did not pay the invoice it would go to collections and they dropped the price to the 7500 saying that the were not going to charge for the trap being put on and did not come back...... We feel this price is way to high when State Tree only removed the limbs from the house , they did not do any clean up or any trunk removal or any stump grinding and  damaged our property septic and personal property.    Again we never agreed to this $9000.00 price and only paid the $7500.00 to keep from going to collections

    thank you
