I met with the owner of Evolved Events & Design Taeisha L*** on Monday March 20th to tour her building/event space. My graduation is May 6th, 2023, and I was interested in touring her building to see if I wanted to rent it out for my graduation dinner with my intermediate family after graduation. After touring her building I told Taeisha I believed her event space would work just for my immediate family to have dinner after my graduation on May 6th, 2023. I told her my mother is hosting my graduation dinner but she does not live here and so I was task with finding a building. Taeisha sent a link to my cell phone; she said it was her contract for the building. She asked me to sign and read over the contract and that the deposit in the amount of $750 was due today. I glanced over the contract and paid my deposit. I did not sign the contract; the system automatically signed it for me. Later that night on March 20th, 2023, I spoke with my mother, and she advised I have the graduation dinner back at home which is Darlington South Carolina so more family will be able to attend the dinner. I contacted Taeisha the very next day on March 21st to tell her I did not need the building now because I was changing the location and now planning something in my hometown so more of my family could come. Taeisha told me she understood and would refund me my money. She never mentioned that I would only receive half of my deposit back. I met with her in person on March 20th, 2023, and she did not sit down with me and explained how her business operated. The only thing that was discussed was the date I needed the building for which was May 6th, 2023. Also, on March 20th Taeisha discussed making another appointment with her to go over the type of decorations I wanted; however, this appointment was never made due to me canceling within a 24-hour time frame. Taeisha’s website is misleading as it has no pictures of her event space. She has other people’s photos/work on her page. I tried to resolve this issue with Taeisha, but she believes that she should keep my $375 because I changed my mind about renting her building.

Ms. ******* is upset because she did NOT  read the contract in full. She sat down with me to read and sign the contract prior to paying her deposit. This deposit was for the venue rental and design features for her upcoming event. If at any moment she was unsure or had questions pertaining to the proposal she could have asked at that moment. Attached are parts on the contract that Ms. ******* had to initial in agreeance as well as sign. One part in particular is the cancellation section. My system nor does any electronic system sign for you, you MUST click and/or adopting the signature proceed. As for my website there isn’t anything misleading, everything there states exactly how we operate our business and ALL of the design photos has been done at this particular venue. I tried to offer Ms. ******* a remedy for her mistake however she refused. Ms. ******* also signed our cancellation amendment again outlining the cancellation process along with slander or my business which she has breeched that is also attached. At this point I am contacting my attorneys for my next steps in moving forward for her breeching the contract and slandering my company’s integrity.

I have sent in copies of the email stating i will increase the refund by $125 in order to reach a total refund balance of $500 for the sake of you not reading your contract and/or the fact that I didn’t spell out the contract for you in detail. However, there is minimum of $250 cancellation fee for ALL clients regardless of the time frame. You have not accepted my remedy nor acknowledged it for whatever reason, but it’s there in the emails that I have submitted prior to this response. And again if you look in the provided files attached to my prior response the changes that was made was simply wording of what you was actually purchasing. It originally stated 4hour venue rental to the change of Gold Package. Nothing more was added or removed. At this point if you would like to accept my remedy I am willing to put it back on the table. However as stated in the email, it will have to go through the proper channels of the bank transfer which can take up to 14 day as also stated in the cancellation amendment.

I booked the venue for a women's brunch I am having March 18th 2023. I submitted a deposit of $250.00 June 2022. She was very responsive then. I just paid the remaining balance of $450.00 November 19th 2022. I Googled the address afterwards to confirm it was correct for my flyers and it was listed as business temporarily closed. I have reached out to the owner twice regarding if my date was still good. I didnt get a response back. They havent advertised my event on their social media or website since I booked the venue. I am in a panick because I paid a total of $700.00 and they are not responding back, plus I noticed they had the wrong date on my contact March 11th 2023. I would not had a space to host my event. I emailed them again and told them since I am not getting a response, I am taking my business elsewhere and they have lost a customer. Now I am in the process of trying to find another venue that has the date I want. I may have to come up with another $700.00, which I dont have. So I need my money back to put on a new venue. Today when I pulled up the website, no its not in the temporarily closed status anymore. But I am still not getting any responses

Ms. D***** has not made any attempts to call or send any text messages for a more prompt response to her concerns. Our venue has been operating regularly since her initial booking and has never closed, we have made some changes to the website however our phone number has never changed. I had express to Ms.D***** that sometimes an email respond can take up to 72 hours being business has grown and is receiving more traffic. As for advertising for her event is not a service we offer nor did we express that we would. Although she send her flyers via social media she has never attached and written concern pertaining to her event date. It is unfortunate she is willing to cancel her booked event with us 30+ days prior to the event date. I tried to reconcile with her being the event is so far out, however she has refused. A cancellation agreement has been sent and all transactions has been canceled. She will receive the appropriate refund per her agreement.

    Better Business Bureau:
I have emailed her regarding the issue more than once and never received a response prior to me filing the complaint. When I sent the flyers and so forth on social media regarding my event on multiple occassions, she just left me on seen status and did not acknowledge my event. Also, the date was wrong on my contract. She only responded and tried to fix the issue because of the complaint I made. I dont trust continuing business with Evolved Events anymore.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

    Sincerely,

    Danielle D*****
