I have a loan through them and have not been able to access my account since before I even graduated. I've reached out in so many different forms to let them know it will not let me in. It logs me in, has me do a code to verify my account, then it bugs out and says an unexpected error occurred. Still cannot get in and ECSI now has sent my loans to a collection agency. I found this out by them calling my father. I looked and had 1 email from them stating this that I did not see, and have had no mail or calls before they called him. They told my dad they've been trying to contact me for "awhile"...but I've never changed my phone number or address, so I don't understand how they couldn't reach me.This is absolutely ridiculous, I don't recommend getting a loan through here as there is absolutely no customer service and you will pay the price for that.

Its sad to see this company thats been in service since 1972 with so many negative reviews as well as very poor coordination communication within their company. The right hand has no knowledge of what the left hand is doing which is causing tremendous damage to the statutes or student borrower bill of rights. Im getting billed for payments while under unemployment deferred and also completed and sent in on time financial hardship deferment before the grace period ended (all by certified mail and also hard copy copies which I always keep) . I received an email that they received my financial hardship application by august 1st and also that they needed more information by 09/03/24. The email states that I did not have to complete another hardship application but only to submit the document from my housing program . I went directly to my hosing program office and showed them what ECSI was requesting and they provided me with the original documents to sent to ECSI. I sent them certified and called ECSI to make sure as I always do because I like communication coordination its very important. I spoke with representative ****** which checked and stated yes they received my requested additional information on 08/14/24. ****** explained not to worry its still in processing and decision making and to disregard the emails that are automatically generated. ****** also explained that the bills Im getting that say overdue are not going to be charged once my application deferment gets approved. Today I continue to receive emails now stating that my information needs to be submitted. Im now getting over due bills with threats that my account is past due and will be reported to credit report. In doing research on this company Ive seen that just recently a Pennsylvania Federal Judge approved a 3.65 million dollar class action settlement. Also another docket no: ************* ECSI Heartland loan servicer faces another class action suit

I was enrolled in automatic payments for years. at the end of May I received my monthly email telling me that my autopay would be taken out on June 1st. On June 11th I received a notice that I had missed my June payment and was charged a late fee. I called and was told by a representative that my loan had been transferred to the Dept. of Education so I had to set up autopay all over again. But the letter said that my loan wasn’t transferred until the 4th of June…so 3 whole days after my payment should’ve gone through. And the Dept. of Education website isn’t working for me to set up autopay all over again.

This is the worst company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I qualified for a percentage of forgiveness yearly as a teacher in a low-income school district. I submitted all my paperwork on time and followed the directions exactly, but was denied every year for some nonsense reason. I would have to go back and forth with them, resubmitting paperwork until they would finally approve me. It was a pain every year and a huge stress, but this year was insane. I was denied this year for my forgiveness and deferment as I had just started at a new school as a preschool teacher. At first, I submitted the paperwork using the preschool form and was denied and told I needed to use the teacher form, so I did that and was then denied and told I needed to use the preschool form. I called and talked to customer support over 7 different times and was told different information on what to do each time. On 2/27/24 I talked to ** who told me that I needed to delete a page and resubmit, which I did and was then denied again. On 2/29/24, I talked to **** in the entitlement department who said he would escalate my case and get back to me because he saw there was evidence that I was being told incorrect information. He never got back to me. I called on 3/15 to check in on that and was told again to use the preschool form, which I submitted and was denied. I called on 3/25 and asked to speak to someone in the entitlement department, was told they don't talk to customers, but after arguing that I had previously spoken with someone from there, was transferred and told that using NJ preschool programs would be sufficient proof that it was a preschool accredited program I work for. I did what I was told and denied. The anxiety and stress that I was put through during all of this was bad enough that I couldn't sleep. It got to the point that I just consolidated my loan instead of continuing to try to get the forgiveness I am rightfully owed. I've never had such a bad experience.

I thought I was the only person who hated this company so much until I saw their 253 reviews on ****** ALL with only 1 star. This company took me off of auto pay and sent me to collections without a phone call or email. I didnt know I was in collections until I got an email from them. Where was my emails stating a delinquency? When I called in they said it was too late collections already had it and I already affected my credit score. This company is a scam and I dont know why any university would use them for their services.

RIDICULOUS how NO ONE ever answers the phone. Its INSANE how this is allowed to occur. The website has many bugs and it does not allow me to access documents on line, no one attends the chat, and the school apparently is just as culpable as they do not have a viable way to resolve this either. Sadly, BBB is the last resort, but we all know that companies do not care what others say, they are only interested in the money they make and the businesses that contract them think this is all nonsense anyhow. And, we wonder why people are so unhappy and stressed.....UNREAL!

I currently have a late payment with them, I logged in to make a payment they changed the due date to 1/10/24, and so I thought I was okay for awhile, luckily today, I logged into their website just to make sure that was still current, without notice, they changed my due date to 11/10/23, making my payment late, every time I have called them in the past, some has told me something different about my loans, this is the worse loan servicer I have ever dealt with

This is the first time I have had to use this company for student loan reimbursement. I updated my account information 4 days prior to the date the refund was scheduled to be disbursed. ECSI sent the disbursement to the closed account and threatened to send a paper check if my account information was not updated by the 2nd attempt which was the same day a few hours later. I have been on hold for 48 minutes to see if they have the updated information. I was told I had an estimated 2 minute hold time. As I type this review. I am still on hold.

My school college mistakenly sent my account information to ECSI. I pay for college monthly as per our agreement, never late or missed a payment. The school confirmed this was THEIR error and the letter and my information should not have been sent to ECSI as my account was paid according to agreement and in good standing. (I have that in writing from the school). I contacted ECSI to tell them this. The representative told me I had to close my account with my school and pay them instead. This is a complete lie and false information. Why would I pay a collection agency when my account is not past due and my info was sent to them in error. This would hurt my credit! When I said this to the representative she backtracked - probably surprised I was not a naïve college student dumb enough to be scared into paying them. I asked that my personal information INCLUDING my social security number be removed immediately from their system. She said she could not do that and that they have information from people they haven't worked with in years. This is extremely concerning, which I told her. I then repeated that there was no reason they should have my information since I have no business with them. Again, she refused to remove my information and said their system was safe that someone needed a code to log on. When I said that agencies get hacked all the time – like banks, healthcare, the IRS, she had no reply. She just continued to say that they would not remove my information. Why should a company have my personal information and social security number when I have no business with them? This could potentially hurt my credit and put my personal information and social security number at risk of theft. Also, to tell someone to stop paying an account in good standing and to pay them, a collection agency instead, I believe, is illegal. I have contacted my school about this and filed complaints with Federal Trade Commission and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

As many complaints as this company receives … each and every rule you do not like to hear … is because of your school. What can and can’t be done is based off THE SCHOOL. Refund students ECSI is not a bank… Google payment processor Tax students .. if you didn’t pay anything or already got enough money granted why the hell would you receive tax money back ?!
