I would not hire Smith Family Logging LLC. ***** Smith the owner and CEO of the business came out and gave me a quote initially to remove 12 trees. He quoted me $1,000 for the trees, which included one larger pine tree, 11 quaking aspens. After discussing another companies quote to install patio pavers, removal of a existing and exposed 12' x 7' concrete pad, sand, 3/4 minus, he texted me that he could do all of the above for $6,500 all I needed to do was buy the patio pavers. He started the job 4/27/23. On the second day of the job he chose to not remove the concrete pad stating that it would add" stability for the patio pavers. He also didn't use a ******** plate to compact the paver foundation material. As a result the patio failed within 2 months of installation. We had also discussed an additional small project consisting of removing 2 large bushes (including the roots), installing matching pavers in front of my shed and adding some drainage by my garage door. Total cost for the add on was $400. He didn't do what he said he would do. After persistently contacting him about not completing this project to my satisfaction for 10 wks he finally came back to redo the work after I gave his company a 1 star. He tore up the patio on 8/3/23 and still has not satisfactorily finished both projects. He has accused me of putting words in his mouth when i remind him on the agreement we had both verbally and in text message. I asked him in April if he was licensed, bonded and insured, replied "yes". I asked him again in July if he was licensed, insured and bonded, because his company name doesn't show up with *********************** replied "yes, its complicated". August 3rd & 29 he was pending. I spoke with a contractor board employee Sept 8th also not licensed with them. He is currently making excuses as to why everything failed. He was paid in full in good faith he would complete the project. His work isn't even worthy of a one star.
