    Constant excuses for delays and poor work overall. Will have to dismantle partially to correct their work. Never came back to finish some details and will not return calls. Do not do business with him or his many fake names!

    Beware of Michael Hobbs Smith! Read the reviews below along with mine and heed the warning! SCAM ARTIST! He comes and gets your money quickly and starts the minimal he can do, being some materials but can never get the plans approved and cannot get his crew to show up to work. This all started at the end of May 2023 and waited until the end of August 2023 before having to hire another contractor to come and build my deck. I lost money, my summer on false promises of showing up to start building my deck. Like the previous reviewer a lawsuit to get my money back is in the works in Montgomery county courts to try and recover some of my hard earned money! BEWARE as Michael Hobbs Smith has several business names and most of the photos that you see on FB market place are not of his own work and are stolen from others!!!!

    We're not filing a complaint because we're suing him in small claims court. Michael seems to have a problem with promising more than he can deliver. He gave me a different business name so I was unable to do proper research on his business dealings. After he stop showing up to finish our deck I started digging around. His MO is to start a deck and then ask for more money to finish it. We're out of money, we paid $2,000 more than the contract price and he still wants more. He continues to promise to come back and finish the work so other deck builders won't touch the deck until Michael agrees to end the contract. So we're filing in small claims court to get our money back for the work he didn't do. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS!!

    He is a scammer, this is a front to take money from people. He is now going by mid ohio decking. His photos are stolen from other REAL companies.

    I have hesitated to write this review as I hate to pile onto someone who is struggling. However, I have now had a contractor come out to give me an estimate on completing my deck that Michael started, but never finished. The work that was done started at the end of June, with an estimate of a couple days to complete. By the beginning of August it was never finished and Michael never returned. Had that been the end of story I would not be writing this. I do want others to know that the work that was done will not pass inspection as the deck was not built to code. Michael or his "crew" would not show up till late afternoon, work until dark and say they would return the next day, which they would not return without me calling Michael. This went on for 2 months. His "crew" consisted of family members who had no prior experience building decks. I think Michael has good intentions, but has no real knowledge of how to build a to code deck. During the construction, his work truck broke down and he had not money to fix it. Then he had not way to bring equipment or supplies to work on the job or haul away tear down materials. Again, I feel bad, but the public needs to know that they do not want to hire this company. I give them ZERO stars.

    Michael Smith is a scam artist who I would not do business with, he will steal your money and also have you work for him and not pay you
