1 starMy Company purchased Gift Cards for the employees for Christmas as a bonus . The cards were for total $1,000 . When we went to use them the card were denied because the card number was scratched out and when we called master card they said that there was a fraud on those cards and there is no money . They did not want to help us and without saying why there said that we were denied to issue us new cards . It looks like the employees of the company might be stealing the funds and later saying that they can not do anything about it . So just please be AWARE!! DO NOT PURCHASE GIFT CARDS from Master card . Total scam !Review fromAlex H

1 starWas booking a hotel room when a promotion popped from IHG Mastercard for a $300 IHG credit if you open an account and the room I was booking would be free. Applied and the credit couldnt be used towards the room I was booking as it would actually **** *-12 weeks to be given to me but they sent me the credit card and immediately charged a $99 annual fee. Total bait and switch.Review fromKrista B

1 starOn 12.22.24 I purchased 2 MC gift cards for my son to take with him on a business trip 12/23 out of state. The second night 12/24 he called me explaining that neither of the 2 gift cards were working. He called me & both cards weren't working. I asked him to send me screenshots of the cards because I knew if I just called and spoke to a representative they'd make everything right. Little did I know they were just stealing customer's money! I then called back & spoke with ****** who said there was nothing he could do. In essence my son was just going to be left out of state without funds even though I in good faith paid $50 on each card as well as about $14 in activation fees for funds to be available on the prepaid debt cards immediately. That was NOT the case. I asked for a *************** transferred me to ****. She explained they were the benefits ***** I asked what benefits those were & she said identity theft, travel, and lifestyle all of which were ridiculous given the cards were prepaid gift cards with no name on them. I was transferred.****** who immediately transferred me to a supervisor who handled escalations, ******. He explained that MC was put a hold on both of my son's gift cards. The only thing he could do was resend new gift cards that he could expedite to me so I'd receive them in 5 days. This was not okay with me. I wanted them to remove the hold on the cards or refund my cash back to my bank account. When I explained the huge inconvenience this had caused me and my family over the holiday I was met with "that's all we can do." Do you want replacement gift cards sent to you? I said I have no other choice. When issuing new gift cards that I don't even know would work, he stated the balances were both now less than $50. I demanded he send the full $50 for each card if for no other reason for the inconvenience. In the end ****** **** up in my face & said he'd be submitting a dispute which would take up to ***** days to resolve.Review fromMischell J

1 starI called as soon as I realized that I had been scamed by a very cleverly done fake Burts Bees Kids site. They and I determined that it would be necessary to replace my cards. ****** and tech reports have identified them as scammers out of *********. . It was literally two days before a major holiday. I requested an overnight for my replacement card. Because as I explained, it was the only credit card.we use for all our purchases. The person on the line argued but as I pleaded for an exception because of the Holidays. She agreed to have it sent in 24 hours . 4 hours from the 24 hour deadline I called to ask what had happened.(this is the day before.the holidays) and needed the cards before it got to late..I was told the cards would arrive after the Holidays now. And that "they were sorry" "nothing we can do". Since I recieved an email saying that it was on it's way( I was at this part fuming) Now this morning my husband got an email during our holiday morning, (without our cards available to us) that our cards had been just sent out this morning Presently looking into a more reliable credit card company with services for the very few times. We are in need of help. Our payments have been reliable, we have been with them for decades. But apparently quality and services change over time. Sometimes not for the better..Review fromRyan S

1 starProblems with gift card on their end. Require me to wait over 2 weeks for my funds to be available without any compensation or consideration for my inconvenience. The whole operation seems extremely shady with customer service being basically non existent and no policy to correct mistakes made in their end.Review fromYolanda X.

1 starMaster card services are charging interest on pay balances and when you try to speak and explain they yield and try to engage in a fistfight over the phone and this is in a business account where people should be highly educatedReview fromNeyo W

1 starI disputed a transaction recently With PayPal And PayPal said they will submit the dispute with MasterCard and MasterCard would make a decision This was with a major bank like **** of America or Chase. My money would already be back in my account. Which is why I do not keep money in my account because the last time I disputed a transaction it took almost a month to get my money back and that is a big concern for me because that means if I ever come into thousands of dollars And I have that money in my account and somebody get access to my account and do fraud or identity theft. It would take weeks or even longer to get my money back and I would not be able to pay my bills. Already through a lot my moms in the nursing home after having her leg amputated recently and the nursing home shes at is six or 700 miles away in ******* and I am in ******* ******* And the nursing home had my mom sitting in her own urine and f**** for almost 2 hours I have a auntie who they found Cancer cells My other auntie had not one but four heart attacks recently and I was evicted from my apartment so I already have a lot going on and stressed out and because everything I have currently going on I am experiencing depression and *** had thoughts and attempts suicide So now this is just something else I have to worry about. I have to now worry about if Im even gonna get my money back from MasterCard according to PayPal. And lately my blood pressure has been high And I have seizures Waiting on my money stressing me out even more on top of everything else. I have going on that Im dealing withReview fromKatalin K

1 starI was very dissatisfied with the service level when I recently experienced fraudulent charges and payments applied from my bank to my credit card. My account information was compromised about a month ago. My digital wallet was hacked and about ********************************************* payments. The card was then used to buy multiple purchases at ******* in a different state all about 109 dollars. The card was shut down, a fraud case applied, purchases were reversed and I was not held liable. Payments to my account needed to be reviewed. I closed my bank account as clearly that was no longer safe and opened a new checking account. I believe my fraudulent charges were handled well, my complaint comes to how they handled my refund for payment I did not authorize. Several days after I receive an email stating the deemed the payments fraud and were refunding the money....to an old account that no longer existed. I spent countless hours working with my bank and MasterCard. I made several requests to speak to management to file a complaint. When i spoke to management they just kept repeating that they could not help me. I even had an email stating a refund was inorder. That was four days ago, no return call no effort to rectify the issue and no receipt of my grievance. I spent many hours on these calls, wasted time. I was able to get a return by asking for the bank to pull the funds back from MasterCard. That should not have happened in that manner and supervisors should be able to offer useful advice, and if not direct you to leadership that can. I should have received some communication back from staff when I made complaints. How does it make sense to reverse funds to my account knowing I have been hacked and that the account would no longer be open. I wonder how often this type of thing results in funds never ending up in the hands of the member. Seems like a process that needs some review. I should have been called at minimum.Review fromJohn S

1 starI received a $200 MasterCard Gift card. I did not use it for a few months. When I did try to use it months later I found the balance to be $0.50! The card was hacked and used fraudulently a few weeks before I tried to use it. MC is requesting the activation receipt to make a claim. Who would have known to keep the receipt. The gift card does not mention keeping the reciept on the packaging. I thought these cards were supposed to be the safe way to gift money. After getting the run around, contacting, the gift card purchaser, the store of purchase and even the store's corporate HQ, I was not able to retrieve a copy of the receipt. Because the card was purchased with cash and over 6 months after purchase, I have not been able to make my claim. BEWARE gift cards are not safe, CASH is still KING.Review fromJERRY T

1 starI am a new mastercard holder and need to revise the *** assigned along with finding the on-line site where I can monitor my card expenditures. I called the Mastercard phone number(s) on the back of my card and upon being disconnected SIX TIMES determined that this review was not only needed but NECESSARY! Your CUSTOMER SERVICE absolutely STINKS! Perhaps one of these days Mastercard will probably by error send me information allowing me to accomplish these two items on account management. However, I'm NOT GOING TO BE DISCONNECTED ANOTHER SIX TIMES IN TRYING TO COMMUNICATE WITH MASTERCARD!!
