My home's 20+ year ducted central air conditioner went out, and I needed a replacement. I solicited quotes from several companies, many of whom proposed similar or identical equipment and installation from ***. Although they were about $1,000 more than the most affordable competitors for the same services and equipment, we decided to go with *** because of how the initial meeting went.Problems with our installation and subsequent experience. The *** team used the existing condensate drain line in the attic, even though my contract called for all new drain lines. This "shortcut" led to a significant problem, a leak behind a wall in our home and mold growth. We needed to open several walls to find the source of the moisture. We reported the issue to ***, and they eventually came to look at the leak. At that time, one of the *** employees said the issue was related to the old condensate drain and claimed they weren't responsible for the old work conducted. I had my contract on hand and pointed them to the section that listed the new condensate drain under "Scope of Work." In the end, *** did return to fix the lines and leak issue and even repaired the walls we had to open to repair the leak.Fast forward two years, and we have new issues. I called *** and was told I would need to shell out hundreds of dollars for them to look at the issue. Needless to say, I have no faith in ***, and I went with a different company for the service call. No surprise here; *** employees did not properly cut the flare connection to one of our air handlers, and we suffered a significant refrigerant leak. Our entire system requires about ten pounds of refrigerant. We had just under three pounds remaining and could see the accumulation of oil/refrigerant by the flair connection insulation in the attic. This repair cost me north of $1,400 because *** employs folks who enjoy cutting corners. As a company, they do not stand behind their workmanship.
