Access elevator technician on 12/13/24 replaced a backup battery ( value $20) in control panel. Time on site 15 minutes. I was billed Approx $450. Prior service call last year was appox. $187. Service Charge doubled without any prior notice. Access now charging for service call and technician separately. Essentially double billing for service. I believe this is an unfair business practice taking advantage of elderly client.

I am writing to update you on the status of my January 9th complaint. When I last spoke with someone in the office of Access Elevator, I asked for a manager or owner to return my call and discuss their billing procedure. As of today no one has returned my call but I did receive a letter from *** ******** ************ demanding payment.  As I explained in my complaint, my prior service call from Access Elevator resulted in a bill for less than $200.  I was expecting the same for this service even though it took only ten minutes which was much less than previously. I was shocked to see in their invoice that they billed me about $200 for a service call and an additional $200 for the technician's time as well as $50 for a simple battery. There was no prior disclosure that their rates were changing for routine maintenance. When I called requesting help diagnosing the problem, they could have suggested that I check the back- up battery. Instead they scheduled a service call without informing me of the cost.

I would like to know if this has become a pattern with Access Elevator especially when they work for elderly clients.

      Thank you,

My name is ***** ********* and I am a quadriplegic 45 year old male. I called Access Elevator to come to my house and maintenance my elevator. The technician came to my home he raised up and down the elevator unit 4 times and he left. The next morning I went to use the elevator to go to work and it didn't work at all they billed me 300.00 for the work. I called Access elevator the following day to complain and they said that they would send another technician to evaluate the problem free of charge. The technician said that it needed a limit switch with roller which costs 40.00 plus labor. The next day they sent me another bill for 300.00 for the evaluation plus another 286.50 to fix the problem, which is a grand total of 886.50 they charged my credit card for 500.00, Access Elevator was never supposed to charge my credit card until I authorized it, as you can see from the documents that I uploaded. Thanks a lot Access Elevator for taking advantage of me, just because I'm physically handicapped doesn't not mean that I'm mentally handicapped.

We replace the part, and the unit is now working properly. The customer has not paid for the maintenance service or the repair at this time. We have reached out to the customer no less than 5 times to discuss this matter, including calls by the President of our company, but the customer has not returned our calls to discuss this matter to date.
