I hired this firm to create a website for my law firm which practices personal injury law in Chicago. And trusted their expertise to design a commercially viable site to compete in this field and market. The content of the site they created is woefully inadequate. Completely oblivious of very basic SEO concepts such as keywords, meta-tags, etc. And not remotely competitive in the market or field. Nor will it ever be. It has become apparent that this firm lacks the expertise to design websites for law firms and should never have offered services for my business. I trusted them to exercise due diligence, tell me what I need and design a competitive website for my business. Now I need to hire someone else to re-do the entire website. I have demanded a refund and Mainstreet Host has refused to refund any of my money. Instead, offering a discount for further services which is unacceptable because I would never hire them again. They claim they have complied with the contract but are ignoring my requests for copies of our contract and invoices for payments I have made. I don't know if a written contract actually exists. I believe I have paid them in excess of $10,000 but don't know the actual amount. The work they performed could be replicated for a few hundred bucks. This is irreparably harming my business as I have lost almost a year of time with literally no chance of competing though organic searches due to my inadequate website. Not one single potential client has come through an organic search and my website.

I have paid $800 on August 23, 2024 with another $800 due soon to Mainstreet Host, for help with ****** ********* on ******. The first account manager who I believed to be mine, pawned me off onto a man who had exactly five minutes only to talk to me about my business. After 3-5 times trying to discuss my business, I called and got a new girl. She isn’t much better there were sheets of my business to discuss these tag words, but the girl told me she “really” didn’t do the optimization. Then after repeatedly telling her the sheets weren’t correct I get an email saying I was up and running. It is now November and to date nothing has been done, phone calls have stopped being returned., if there is something ( which I would have no idea ) running it has the incorrect tags! Unreal!! You trust people and companies to be those of their word and still get screwed! I want my money back and my contract tore up! No payment going forward !

This business has fraudulently charged by personal card ending in ****. I have requested cancelation of their services and have heard nothing but radio silence and they continue to charge me without permission. I would like a complete refund however after dealing with this company I feel that is impossible. I do demand that they refund the $532 they took from my personal account. They never had permission to keep this card on file or to use autopay. Their services have done nothing for my business but cause issues with SEO.

Account with the Company Mainstreethost #62676 Transactions began on or about Jan 8, 2024 to provide simple website editing and annual hosting services. Nature of dispute: (1) Fraudulent business practices for services paid that were not provided. Refund for services not provided for one year website hosting requiring $880 that I paid in advance, and also refund the $550 for website editing never accomplished that in fact left the site less capable than the site I originally provided them. (2) After more than two months beginning in Jan 2024 of trying to work with Mainstreethost for simple site edits to be done first, I had to move the website elsewhere to another company in the area because Mainstreethost could not or would not provide the proper website editing, which I paid $550, before they were to began hosting. Therefore, I was forced to select another local company instead to complete work. I had the website relocated to the other company's server for them to complete proper edits for my site "***********************". And the other local company completed everything in a timely manner, and then began proper site hosting like I tried to have done with Mainstreethost that uses fraudulent business practices, and caused much aggravation, unnecessary delays, and charging me for services they did not provide. (3) I have attempted on several occasions by phone and by email to receive a full refund of $880 annual fee for hosting services not provided. Does it make sense that for my site not yet ready for public viewing without first proper site editing requires hosting in which to begin promotion? Without proper editing first, the website never qualified for hosting yet until it was ready for public viewing. Therefore, I am wanting a full refund of $1390 from Mainstreethost to recover the money that I paid $550 for editing not accomplished, and also for annual hosting $880 not provided either. **** ****** Owner of the Website "*******************.com"

Elizabeth "Liz" C*** contacted me to discuss modifying my company website, and I told her that I am the only one who manages my website and I don't allow anyone to modify it in any way whatsoever due to the daily attempts we receive with scammers trying to steal our domain name, destroy our website, etc., because of what we do and what we support here at ******************. In any case, I made myself very clear regarding this on the telephone while talking to Mrs. C***. The sales approach that Liz used/uses is an aggressive and pushy one; she doesn't take no or **** no for an answer. I sent her an email on March 11, 2024 at 11:28AM CT demanding that she stop contacting and harassing me. Apparently, she ignored that demand and contacted me again via telephone on March 25, 2024 at 5:00PM CT. Please see attached documents for details. I do not wish to be contacted by Mainstreet Host or Liz C*** as I'm not interested in them, their approach, their pushy tactics, their services, or what they do as a company. I want the company to stop harassing me, and to stop contacting ******************. Depending on the outcome of this complaint, I may be filing a restraining order against Mrs. C*** if she can't seem to control her behavior.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We strive to have airtight follow-up processes in place, but unfortunately, we dropped the ball. Please note that your phone number was added to our Do Not Call list on March 25 and all communication to your business has since stopped. Wishing you and your business the best.

      Customer Answer

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  I highly doubt that the company actually has a "DO NOT CALL" list; it's hearsay and should not be acceptable as a viable response to my complaint.  It is my contention that this company allows such contact to be made and they ignore requests to stop their harassing phone calls and emails until there's arbitration with the BBB, etc. The pressure tactics of the sales representative were like that of a used car sales person who's desperate to sell a lemon car to an unsuspecting buyer.  These types of sales tactics are dishonest, unprofessional, and the approach was very typical of the area of the country that Elizabeth is in - it's all lies and smoking mirrors. I'm a Web Developer and an E-Commerce Engineer x 20+ years.  I know how SEO works.  This company misleads people with their false promises, and I could hear it so plainly in the sales representative's pushy approach, harassing phone calls, being overly aggressive by making false assumptions and trying to put words and ideals into my mouth by saying all that she could say to persuade me to give her money (e.g. You need this service, You see the value in this service, You see how this service can help your business, etc.), and I doubted it the entire time.  It's all a crock, and that's what they sell; they should be shut down, period.  Regards, ******* ******

On 08/29/23, I signed a contract with this company. I paid $1650.00. I signed up for optimization for my book. I am a whistleblower. The person over my account sabotaged my book when he wrote on my own website that my book was fiction and I was a fiction author. He ruined my credibility. If that wasn't bad enough he didn't even put my book on ****** listings which is a free service. I had to do it myself. I never received the reports I was promised. It's been almost half a year and I have not received one report yet. They still continued to charge my account. You would think after ruining my credibility as an author and my book they would not still charge me, but they did. I plan on suing because after he publicly sabotaged my book I have not sold any books online other than people who actually know me. I want a full refund. In 6 months this company has not even sent me a report and only hurt my product they were paid to market. I would not recommend this company.

      Business Response

      Date: 01/22/2024

Thank you for sharing your feedback, ******. We respect your work and would like to confirm once again that no team member of ours has ever referenced your book as fiction or fake. The term “false crime” was included in your optimization only to describe what is covered in your book: being accused of a false crime. Once brought to our attention, we immediately offered to revise the optimization to not include that term, but your web developer did not give us access to do so. Shortly after, your website got taken down and we offered to help build you a new site, but you decided you wanted to build a new website on your own. Once completed, we implemented the revised optimization on your new site, which didn’t include any reference to “false crime.” Currently, your site no longer has any of our optimization on it, or any tracking codes and we are unable to access your website to fix it. We have been here to help you with whatever you needed since starting with us back in September. It has only been a little over 4 months and within that time, our SEO was unable to remain on your site long enough to be effective. Your first report is due on February 14, which is provided after the optimization has been in place for 6 months. Our calls to address your claims haven’t been returned so we can only assume that you do not wish to continue with your marketing campaign. To resolve this matter, Mainstreethost will refund your final payment that was made on December 29, 2023. This compensation is for the quarterly maintenances and two status reports that are left on your package.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  I demand a full refund. This business needs to look at the photo I added. He entered this information on my website page not just under optimization. There was no reason for him to change anything on my website. The picture clearly shows this was on my website and what he put. A partial refund is a slap in the face when they cost me thousands of dollars in sales, libel and ruined my credibility. I will be filing a lawsuit against this company, but I still want my money back. I was advised not to speak with them. They have had a half of year to do what I paid them to do and they have not done it. I still have not received any reports. The person over my account sabotaged it and I do not trust him to give him any log on information. I strongly suggest this company speak with him and ask him exactly what he "did" because the truth will come out when my trial start in reference to my other case that I will make sure he is subpoenaed for.  Respectfully, ****** *******

      Business Response

      Date: 01/26/2024

Mainstreethost is sorry to hear that your book sales did not meet your forecast. However, your claim that we cost you “thousands of dollars in sales” and “ruined your credibility” is unsubstantiated. We would like to confirm once again that no team member of ours has ever referenced your book as fiction or fake. The term “false crime” was added to your **** ** page only to describe what is covered in your book: being accused of a false crime. The term “false crime” was added to your website on September 19. The next day, we offered to remove that term from the page optimization after you voiced your concern, but you told us that your web developer would make the change instead. On September 27, you confirmed that had your team made the change. Shortly after our discussion, your website was taken down by your publisher and you told us that you decided to build a new website. Once the website was completed, we implemented the revised optimization on your new site on November 15, which didn’t include any reference to “false crime.” Currently, your website doesn't have any of our optimization or tracking codes on it, so to continue to blame us for your website not being visible on the search engines is unfounded. Additionally, the term false crime doesn’t appear anywhere on your website. We have been here to help you with whatever you needed since starting with us back in September. It has only been a little over 4 months and within that time, our SEO was unable to remain on your site long enough to be effective. As a show of good faith, we will increase our refund to 50% of the balance paid to compensate you for the time left on your campaign.

It is up to this company to do a background of anyone they are representing prior to doing anything. There was no reason for this person to change anything on my website booking page. He was only supposed to be doing optimization. Nowhere in the contract does it state they will change anything on the website. I will accept this offer, but I will still be taking it a step further legally at a later date.   Regards,  ****** *******

On 11/28/2022 I paid $1,188.00 to Mainstreethost Digital Marketing Agency (*** ******** Dr, Amherst, NY 14228, www.**************.com), ***-***-****) for SEO for my business Integrated Counseling. My contact was Aaron K******, Account Manager. Aaron stated his company would provide me SEO that will generate "a weekly steady stream of new clients" beginning in 3-4 months of purchase. He stated he would provide monthly updates on progress. To date, I have received neither. I contacted Aaron K****** twice inquiring as to progress with no definite information gained. I asked Aaron to provide me with monthly updates, he stated he would. However, he nor anyone in the company has reached out to me. I would like a total refund. I believe this company is fraudulent.

On February 7, 2023 I was contacted by Mainstreethost to increase sales and website visits to my Business website *****************.com , their claim is " SEO Services Driving traffic with proven optimization strategies" ion the 80 days since i have contacted them continuously about issues with ****** analytics , as well have seen a decrease in website activity and performance, With $0 in sales and website visit decrease of 48%, and recently found ****** searches from their "expert" to find answers on "how to" add markups to my website, on the account i created for them to access site. I have reached out to them on several occasions by phone with a "be patient" as their only answer, i have forwarded emails on several occasions from ****** showing page issues. We have paid a monthly fee for this non-service totaling $1080.00 since February with no work done and a decrease in activity, By April I was still receiving messages telling me bone of my pages indexing, and i lost my website URL. After emailing and calling with no response, i sent an email telling them to cancel, when i finally received a call from customer support , i was basically told that it wasn't their problem, that i hired them for 5 pages, and schema markup, when i told the man it was those pages not indexing, he then blamed ******, ***, me and again told me i have to be patient, i wanted him to cancel the service because as a small business i cant afford to pay for something that doesn't work, he told me he'd investigate, haven't heard from them since I only asked them to refund the most current payment and stop charging me for work that i had to complete myself, as the SEO was only 20% complete, when they told me they were done. NEVER AGAIN , their "experts " ****** how to fix website , I can do that a lot cheaper than $1800, These people are taking advantage of small businesses that don't have access to web designers/coders and wont help you by cancelling your service

Thank you for sharing your feedback, *****. We sincerely understand your frustration about the lack of online sales.  After looking into the performance of your website, your rankings are trending in the right direction since we began SEO in mid-February, but we apologize that you are not seeing results as fast as you had hoped. Our team achieved page one placement for one of your key phrases and several Top 50 placements during your time working with us. Some of these phrases include (results as of 4/25/23): • Pagan Psychic Reading Classes Online (#10 result) • Essential Wiccan Products for Sale (#25 result) • Pagan Supplies and Accessories for Sale Online (#26 result) • Witchcraft Supplies and Accessories for Sale Online (#38 result) • Essential Witchcraft Products for Sale (#46 result) SEO is a long-term strategy that typically takes four to six months to start seeing an increase in traffic and leads. This is especially true for startup businesses such as yours that is just beginning to build its online presence. We apologize if realistic expectations were not properly set. In addition, it was not our intention to assign blame when addressing your complaints. However, we are unable to fix website redirects because we don’t host your website or manage your ****** Merchant account. Also, your statement that the SEO was only 20% complete is inaccurate. The five pages of SEO and Schema Markup that you bought were completed on February 21, 2023. The only services that you didn’t receive were the quarterly site maintenances and reporting since you canceled before the first report was scheduled. Please accept our apology since we did not call back as promised, but we considered the refund issue resolved during the phone call. The account was canceled as asked and we confirmed that you paid $720 instead of the $1080. The Customer Care representative also waived the cancellation fee after informing you that that a refund wasn’t due based on the Terms & Conditions of the signed contract.

Thank you for sharing your feedback, *****.We sincerely understand your frustration with the entire situation. Please accept our apology for the lack of timely communication that you experienced from us as well. Our team failed to keep you informed of our progress and delays that we faced.Mainstreethost works with numerous third parties to coordinate our client’s SEO services without issue. However, this wasn’t the case this time. The hosting company initially told us that they would add the optimization to the website but refused after we provided the changes to them for insertion. We empathize with your situation, which is why we offered a prorated refund even though the Terms & Conditions in the contract state that a refund will not be issued if the order wasn’t canceled within 3 business days from the time of purchase. The $720 refund was for the remaining 12 months of monitoring, quarterly maintenances and reports that we did not complete. To resolve this in a mutually satisfactory manner, we will increase the refund to $1,000 from $720. We hope that you feel that you were treated fairly and agree from a business perspective that we simply want to recoup our costs for the services provided.

I was contacted on Jan 19, 26, and 31, 2023 by MainStreet Host soliciting business to improve my website. On Jan 31, 2023 I agreed. I messed up and waited until after I agreed to check on the business. I found numerous complaints about never getting what you pay for and not being able to get money back. I had paid $1299.99 down and they were going to take 3 more payments every 90 days until the balance of $4000.00 was paid. On February 1, 2023, I sent the "account manager", Cheryl M*******, an email advising that I wanted a full refund and did not wish to have their services. She immediately called me, and agreed to refund my full payment. I sent an email after that phone call, but never received a response. I have attempted to call, but do not get a return call and cannot get anyone to admit that I paid. I have filed a dispute with my credit card company and provided them with the emails and phone call log. Everyone should be ware of this company! Read the reviews and pay attention to them!!

Mainstreethost canceled the client’s account on February 1 and confirmed that he would get a full refund during our phone call.   The client’s credit card was refunded on February 9, 2023. We apologize that we didn’t clearly communicate that it can take up to 10 business days to reimburse the account when the client canceled.  We consider this issue resolved.
