Date of transaction: 07/19/2024 Amount paid to company: $1195.00 What business committed to providing: Laboratory analysis on our private well water and a report indicating whether or not we met our township's, Hopewell Twp (Mercer County) and NJ's standards according to the Private Well Testing Act. Nature of dispute: Pace did not adhere to the significant digit rule that was adopted by the state in accordance with their guidelines. As such, they incorrectly reported that our well exceeded the standards as outlined for NJ State and which would then require remediation under our township's code. Has business tried to resolve the problem: No. I reached out to them initially on 8/21/24 and there was no response. Spoke with Matthew S. at Pace on 10/22/24, he said he would reach out to people above him about my concern. I called again on 10/25/24 and spoke with Matthew S. who let me know it had been escalated out of office, and he would send emails to check on status. I emailed them on 10/28/24 letting them know that on Friday, 10/25/24 after I spoke with Matthew, I called and spoke directly with the private well manager at NJ state DEP. She confirmed that: (1) they did adopt the significant digit rule, and it should be applied by the company when reporting; (2) our value in question, the PFOS, did not exceed the standard as it had been reported by Pace, and our report has been recorded as having met all standards for the state's reporting records; 3) in our report, under PFOS, the report should be corrected to (a) the second significant digit and (b) to "N," under "Standard Exceeded." Her name is Jessica, and she encourages anyone with questions to contact her at ###-###-####. To date, Pace has not contacted me once regarding my concerns. My twp is requesting an update to ensure our well does not exceed the standards. We are unable to proceed with buying our home until we receive the letter from the twp, which hinges on the well water report from Pace.
