Advantage came out to service my hvac units. Expected bill was $200-300. Without my permission, they replaced the thermostats and an inducer motor and then called me after the fact and told me I owed them $1600. I told them that wasn’t ok to do without my approval, but I’d be happy to work out a fair price with them. Then they threatened to come back and just take the parts back. I told them again, that was not only not ok, but illegal, but I was happy to work out a fair price with them. I also called another hvac company and was quoted less than $1,000 for the same work. As it turned out, they came back, took parts off of it, didn’t even put my old parts back on (so those are stolen as well) and left the unit in shambles and didn’t even put the cover back on, damaging the unit. I will attach a pic of how they left it and the next company found it. They then tried to send me a seperate bill for $607 for two thermostats that cost $40 on Amazon and two hours of labor when I saw them install them on camera in 10 minutes. Talked to the owner (****) on the phone today to try to resolve and he told me I can try to sue him if I’d like. I filed a police report but they said it is a civil ****er.

**** ********* you called and requested a servicing of your two RTU's at your gym ( ****** ******** ****) and we quoted that at $200 to $300 for the servicing. We sent a tech and preformed the servicing on your two RTU's and changed filters.  When the tech arrived,  the heat was not working on one of the RTU's and intermittently on the other RTU.  At that time, we found a bad inducer motor and two thermostats were not working.  Our tech talked to a trainer in the gym who told him to perform the repairs because it was cold in the gym and they needed heat.   Tech installed two thermostats and was going to replace the inducer motor when **** showed up and stated that he was not paying for any of the work performed.  To remediate the situation, we offered to remove the thermostats and not charge him for any labor, parts and servicing.    He was not willing to accept the proposal and wanted us to return and install a new inducer motor and pay us what he thought was a fair price.  We have not received any payment for any of the parts, servicing or labor.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: This is actually almost entirely untrue. The "trainer" that they got approval from was not actually an employee of ****** ******** ****. I was never here when they were here because they didn't show up when they were supposed to and showed up before business hours. They actually did in fact install the inducer motor as well as the thermostats with the approval of someone who is not employed here, without calling me. Then called me later that day and told me I owed him $1600 for the work they did. I told him I wasn't okay paying that amount when I wasn't even called to be made aware of the problem or the cost to fix it. Nor did they even leave a bill or statement for the work they did. I did check with other companies later that day and found out that I was not even getting a fair price for that work. The reason they are lying about installing the inducer motor is because it is illegal for them to come back and take it off the unit once they install it on the property. If non-payment is an issue, they would have to handle collecting payment through legal channels. On top of the fact that everything was working fine in the weeks after installing it, I actually have them on camera going back onto the roof and coming back down with the part (which is illegal), shortly before it magically stopped working again. And also, if they never installed it, my old inducer motor would still be on there. But it's gone. And they are the only ones who were on camera going on the roof. So I would like my inducer motor back that they illegaly took from my property.

    Sincerely,

    **** ********

    Good day,

I hope this **** can find a company that can help him.  We tried but he turned it into a lot of lies and damaging comments towards our company.  We wish him well and he has never paid for anything.  We serviced his equipment and installed new filters.  He refused to pay and wanted us to be harassed.  There are wonderful customers that we have but sometimes we find that there are those that want to take you to the cleaners.  Thanks!
