      The City of Columbia, Missouri contracted with Asplundh Tree Service to trim tree limbs near power lines. The City stated their contract with the tree service requires the tree company to maintain liability insurance and handle complaints from their work. A representative from the tree company reviewed the tree trimming plan with the homeowner. While the homeowners were out of town, Asplundh worked in our backyard to cut limbs from trees. When we returned home on February 21, 2023, we saw the cut marks on the trees that were trimmed and that an original piece of artwork, an outdoor sculpture, was ruined. The sculpture is located in the same area where the work was done. We contacted Asplundh and they stated in an email their equipment did not a touch the sculpture and they do not think they are responsible. Tree branches had to be removed from the area and we believe damage was done while trimming and removing the limbs, even if the actual equipment didn’t touch the sculpture. We have had several emails and conversations with a company representative and have not been able to resolve the situation. The contact from the company with whom we have been communicating is ****** *******, General Foreperson at ************. We seek payment for the ruined sculpture.
