Brought my father's 75 Corvette to Straight Line at suggestion of my auto mechanic after he did the brakes on my vehicle. Straight Line required a $500 deposit paid by check. After multiple weeks, the owner *** called to tell me that the car was in "terrible shape, needed a complete overhaul INCLUDING BRAKES and his recommendation was to completely rebuild the car for about $50-$60,000, so I would have a brand new Corvette with the old body on it. I had the car towed to another restorer who is now working on the car, and said the car does need some work, more like $10-$15,000 worth, and definitely does NOT need brakes done as they obviously were just done.I requested my deposit back from Straight Line leaving a rather terse voicemail after several months, as they seemed rather negligent about a refund; it is quite apparent that they did very little work, if any on the car, and they were lying about the brakes. *** called me back stating that I had been informed that the deposit was non-refundable, so he is basically taking $500 from me for doing nothing but storing the car while he was not working on it "because he didn't have the staff to look at it yet."
