Date of transaction: April 14th, 2022 Amount Paid: $1,995.00 What the business committed to provide: The ability to obtain a *** certificate by way of their boot camp training. Offering a 120 Day money back guarantee if one fails the exam 3 times.Nature of the dispute: Nowhere during the ******************** process is it disclosed or warned that to take the *** Certification Exam, one must already possess 5yrs of managerial experience or 3yrs, plus a bachelor's degree. The latter requirements were made known to me the moment I attempted to register for the *** Certification Exam, rendering me unable to take said exam. I have repeatedly addressed the misleading information via email and have only requested they refund the course fee I paid in full upon enrollment. Not once have they acknowledged my claim nor my suggestion to remedy the critical flaw in their ******************** process, which occurs in multiple online paths. They refuse my refund request on the grounds that I must take and fail the exam three times before honoring their money back guarantee. Their training program is designed for a select group of individuals, yet their paid online ads are Designed to attract the general public looking to gain a quick and marketable skill. And their money back guarantee is what seals the deal.Whether business has tried to resolve problem: In lieu of the refund they have offered learning materials to prep for the junior version of the *** Certificate and stated my training hours will not expire. Also, upon completion of the suggested course and the fulfillment of the requirements previously listed I could then pay an additional $635 for a refresher course of which I am seeking a refund now. All this resulting over the course of at least 5 years.

Better Business Bureau of Central *******
Complaint ID ******** regarding Project Management Academy

Upon review of the complaint filed on July 28th by a past student of Project Management Academy -- who did not feel Project Management Academy provided adequate information on the *** Certification and therefore deceptively promoted Project Management Academys products -- we provide the following response.

As a PMI (Project Management Institute) Accredited Training Partner, Project Management Academy has had over ****** project professionals successfully complete its *** Boot Camp. We pride ourselves on providing the education and resources necessary to help project professionals successfully pass PMIs (Project Management Institutes) *** Certification exam to further their careers.

When project professionals visit our website http://www.projectmanagementacademy.net in search  of *** exam prep, they are provided with information and resources to help them understand: what the *** Certification is, what the *** Certification Exam is, and what PMI requires of project professionals in order to qualify for the *** Certification.  Anywhere the website visitor lands within the *** Certifications, there are call-outs (links) for Certification Requirements. The student filing the complaint would have had access to all of the content necessary to make an informed decision on the purchase of a *** Boot Camp registration.

      https://projectmanagementacademy.net/pmp-certification-process

Before any purchaser is able to complete a purchase on our website, the  student is required to accept the terms and conditions of Project Management Academys Purchase Agreement https://projectmanagementacademy.net/purchase-agreement.  Because PMI ultimately decides at its discretion if a project professional meets its requirements and PMI is free to change those requirements at any time we include the following disclaimer in the Purchase Agreement.

      b. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE OR WARRANT YOUR ELIGIBILITY TO SIT FOR THE *** EXAM. THE PROJECT MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE, AT ITS SOLE DISCRETION, MAKES SUCH ELIGIBILITY DECISIONS.SINCE ELIGIBILITY DECISIONS ARE MADE BY A THIRD PARTY, WE MAKE NO GUARANTEE AS TO YOUR ELIGIBILITY TO SIT FOR THE *** EXAM NOR DO WE GUARANTEE THAT YOU MEET ALL OF THE REQUIREMENTS TO SIT FOR THE *** EXAM. YOU AGREE NOT TO HOLD US RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR ELIGIBILITY TO SIT FOR THE *** EXAM. YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT YOU SHALL HAVE NO RECOURSE AGAINST US IF YOUR ARE DENIED PERMISSION TO SIT FOR THE *** EXAM. BECAUSE SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT PERMIT THE EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES, THOSE EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

Immediately upon completion of any purchase, the purchaser receives an Order Confirmation email, which again provides a link to the Purchase Agreement.  Purchases are refundable within 1 business day from the day of the purchase with no questions asked.

We do attempt to make sure all our customers are informed and satisfied with their purchase and their experience with Project Management Academy.  When the individual filing the complaint reached out to our customer service department informing us that he did not meet the qualifications to sit for the exam, he was informed that he would qualify to sit for PMIs Certified Associate in Project Management exam and that the training he completed, as well the additional free resources we offered him, would prepare him for the exam.

If you should you require any additional information, documentation, or copies of correspondence, please feel free to contact me.

      Respectfully,

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this response/resolution is satisfactory to me.

However,I have attached a video showcasing the lack of transparency that Project Management Academy displays. In the video, the link placed by Project Management Academy directly leads me to information on what the crash course contains, class type, and when and where I can take the classes. It is only in the at the purchase agreement is it ever disclaimed, that they are not responsible for the test ineligibility

Also this disclaimer does not disclose what may bar me from taking the exam, only that they bare no responsibility. At no point did they ever mention the purchase agreement, even when they made me the offer of free study materials for the test of a lesser certificate. This critical piece of information should be almost immediately visible and not hidden in a purchase agreement (which we are all guilty of skipping).

I was hooked in with the protection of a money back guarantee clause; not once thinking they would offer a course in preparation for a test that I would not be able to take. It is a critical piece of information for any potential customer, it is like offering and providing driving lessons for people who could not obtain a drivers license in the first place.

It is my hope that they take steps to remedy the lack of transparency to avoid the entrapment of other future "students" who are seeking to improve their employment potential and not simply be stripped of much needed income.

      Regards,
