Deck/Fence contractor - ******* is point of contact. I needed deck and fencing repairs. He provided a verbal bid on 9/9, and I then offered 75% over his bid to complete upgrades he might want to add at his discretion. I have a history of providing contractors artistic/********'s latitude in order to ensure they feel invested in the project. He estimated a 3-4 day job, to be done early Oct. Between Sept and Dec., ******* texted on at least 10 different occasions that he would be showing up on particular days, and then failed to show. The one day they showed up, in early Oct., ******* was not present, and there were people who were never identified in my back yard. They tore up my deck and left boards with screws facing up all over my yard, and gaping, hazardous holes in the decking. They spilled cement on my patio - a different color than the patio itself. On repeated occasions he said he would 'my word' and '100%' be present within days to complete the project. ******* visited in late Nov., after I wrote him a scathing text calling out his failures to show and complete the job in a timely fashion, as well as the cement and the hazardous condition in my backyard. ******* noted that he would get the job done very shortly and apologized. On 12/10, he wrote that he had the materials, listed a plan of action, and would be 'doing it personally.' On 12/12, he noted the work would be done the following Sat., Sun. and Mon. 'Should be plenty of time.' No show. On 12/17, he noted he would be there on the 19th, 20th and 21st (Sat.) and said he hoped I'd be there to go through the punch list. No show. On Sunday the 22nd, I texted asking for a revised plan. No reply. On Mon., I followed with a phone call providing a week to complete the work. No response. On 12/27, I attempted to text and call, did some research, and found that my number had been blocked. I was able to circumvent the block, using *67 and left vm that he was not to come to my property.

Our family agreed in contract with Cedar Rapids Contracting LLC f/k/a *************************** on Oct 17, 2024 for a at home deck project that involved adding stairs on an existing deck and a concrete patio slab at ground level. The agreed upon amount was $8,100 with $3,928.50 as an initial deposit to get the work started. The initial project was told to last 3-4 working days. We have went back and forth for a month and half with less than half the project completed to date. The company has been non-communicative throughout the project and has now gone over two weeks since last communication. We have likely 100 texts or calls unresponded to with no update. The *** now looks to have been wiped from the internet. For the record, the work that has been done was not up to code and done poorly with unlevel wood and incorrect types of wood. I checked with the City of Tiffin and no permit or license was submitted - which was promised to us at the beginning of the work. Lumber and equipment have been sitting at our house for weeks untouched. We have dealt with heachaches and lies for over a month and a half and asking reimbursement to wipe our hands clean of this company. We are now looking into another company to tear down the current steps to do the work correctly which will be more costly.
