We would like to file a complaint against Matrix Building Group, LLC. We entered a verbal agreement after receiving a quote on October 20, 2023, to convert our carport into a bedroom and bathroom. The agreement was that Matrix would build according to the plans provided and ensure the project was up to code standards. Over several months, we observed Matrix's failure to utilize good business practices during our project, leaving us over budget, past deadline, and ending with a disagreement on the scope and final invoicing. Jan 31, 2024 the project halted, on that day and the following few days there were several messages from Matrix requesting $5,600 of what Matrix said was a $6100 balance. We told Matrix that that number was higher than we were tracking, and we would have to review our records, and that we would have to coordinate for follow-up dates to complete the work. We issued Matrix a Notice to Perform on Feb 2, listing out the remaining scope of work, timeline, and balance. Matrix responded with inaccurate information and a contract that we do not agree to. We feel Matrix exploited the situation though an using aggressive Change Order process and living invoice system combined with threats of delays if payment was not executed immediately. After further investigation we believe that some of these Change Orders included charges within the original quote; and Matrix is attempting to double charge us. We are hoping to break away from Matrix Building Group regarding this project with a zero balance; while allowing the plumber (separate company) hired by Matrix, to finalize the work relating to connecting the city gas line. After discussion with the plumber, he stated his company was paid in full for the entire project. All other remaining work assigned to Matrix we will resource elsewhere. Additionally, if you find Matrix worked outside BBB practices, we would like assistance on filing a complaint against his license. Full Report Attached

As stated in the correspondences between the ******* and I, there is a balance of $6,591.40 due to date. This doesn't include the $8,500.00 not paid for work that was verbally agreed to when making change orders to the original scope of work. I explained to the ******** that I had already taken a large profit loss on this job due to their inability to pay for requested change orders. With that being said, they stated that they purchased materials in the amount of $3,173.81 and want that deducted from the total amount due. Unfortunately, any materials that the Parkers purchased without approval by the contractor will not be reimbursed or deducted from the dollar amount due. This is because they were 1. not approved by the contractor, 2. not purchased at the contractor discount cost that is listed on the quote and 3. because some of the materials purchased were not needed or not included in the original estimate. The Parkers have expressed that they are very happy with the work completed and still decided to file a complaint with the BBB to try and hurt my business over money that is due to Matrix Building Group. A Home Renovation Contract was sent to the Parkers with all work that will be completed upon the balance being paid. No work will be done by myself or any subcontractors until the remainder of the money is paid to Matrix Building Group.
