I booked a hotel stay through Reservations.com The website showed discounted rates for a stay at the **************** in **********************. When I went to pay the amount was the same. The morning I checked my email and received confirmation of multiple additional charges as well as the entire fees in USD not CDN which was not indicated at time of booking.Within 12 hours of booking I called to request a refund based on faulty information on the website. They stated to process my request they would cancel my booking at the **********A week went by and I finally heard that they would not process my refund. I asked why and they stated it was because of hotel penalties. I called the Algonquin and spoke to the bookings manager who stated this was all too common and he would provide me with documentation stating they would not charge penalties or anything for the booking. I sent this to the customer service email in the same thread I had been using. I then only received repetitive, exact same wording emails stating because of the hotel policy and penalties that reservations.com still had to pay for the booking which is completely false. I have now lost over $600 CDN for a one night stay at a hotel based on fault advertising and completely unethical business practices. This company is now keeping my money and has cancelled my booking. Its unprofessional and fraudulent.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:I would like to wait for a resolution as the response so far is still that they are looking into it and a refund has yet to be given.
I would also like to make note that the hotel has emailed reservations.com again to confirm they will not be charging anything if a refund is given. This is the reason the reservations stated they would not provide a refund. They stated if the hotel confirmed nothing would be charged they would provide me with a refund. No refund has been given as of todays date.

Date of transaction 3/25/2025 I thought I was on the hotels website but when I called The Hyatt tonight they told me my reservation was made through a third party but it looks just like ******* website. 15 mins after I made the reservation I tried to cancel it. I followed all their steps and it kept sending me to an error page. I talked to three reps and none of them would help me. I was also not told that I would be charged $747.12 with a bunch of added fees immediately. I've sent an email to their customer support, left them a ******** message and called the number one of their agents gave me to cancel and it rang once and hung up on me. This company is the biggest scam. They made it seem like I was booking on the actual hotel website, advertising that it was Fairfield inn and suites by *******. I booked my hotel for $169.00, when on the website said it was $141.00.. NONE of the hidden fees were mentioned until AFTER I completed my purchase. My grand total was $241.18 plus a SEPARATE $11.99 fee. We are staying there for ONE NIGHT. I called the hotel and my total with tax would have been $168, if I would have directly booked with them. The hotel told me there isn't anything they could do since this is a third party company. I was in tears with the company and there was nothing they would do for us...This is our first family trip out west and funds are so tight. This whole thing was so unfortunate. I don't even want to know how many other people have been taken advantage of by this terrible company.Business Response

March 18, 2024 I am booking cross-country travel for my special needs son and my wife as they navigate the midwest to make it to ******** for my son's 3 week intensive physical therapy session. I booked online through reservations.com and then after consulting with my wife about 5 minutes after, I realized I messed up the booking and we no longer needed that hotel. I tried cancelling to find out I would not be getting a refund back of any kind I tried cancelling around 15 minutes after my initial booking. The booking also was not until JULY 26th. I booked WELL in advance and tried to cancel immediately.Every time I try to call and speak with someone, they hang up on me. I am being polite on the phone and just trying to speak with someone about a resolution. All of the phone numbers they list are for booking. So then I mentioned I would like to cancel or modify, then they transfer me over to the void and drop my call.The last woman I spoke with, I told her what happened and she said we cannot help you and she hung up the phone There should be no reason why I cannot get my money back. Sure, I'll let the $48 cancellation fee go but the other $350 should be refunded immediately as I booked MONTHS ahead of time and tried to cancel within MINUTES This is not okay. Especially the fact this is for our special needs child who is already extremely expensive in getting into these therapies only to have this money wasted on a cancelled booking.I submitted an online inquiry to cancel and it's my understanding they are going to cancel our reservation and NOT refund us any of our money so I'm out a hotel room and north of $300Business Response

On Friday March 21, I booked a reservation for the ***************** and Suites in *********** for my wife, ***** *******. I thought I was on the Hilton's website but it was reservations.com somehow. Everything on the site was about staying in ***********, **, ******, and nowhere on this site were the prices USD by any of the dollar amounts. The confirmation right after booking said $608.94 and when I saw the transaction in my banking, and the receipt to my wife's email, there were two transaction, one for $804.89 CDN and $102.93 CDN. ***IN SHORT: They said I was paying $608.94 and I was charged, in total, $907.82!*** They owe me $298.88 definitely, but now just want a complete refund but can't get a hold of them. I was on the phone for 90mins Saturday morning March 22 trying to talk with someone about this at Reservations.com though the number they provided in the receipt email and confirmation page didn't work! It says to press 2 to talk about existing reservations and when you press that number there is a message telling you that isn't the right number and to refer to the phone number given to you in your confirmation email. This number: **************. The only way I could talk to a person was if I selected option 3 which was to book a reservation and I talked to 6 different people asking them to put me through to a representative about my issue and 4 of those people sent me back to the bogus number, one person just hung up, and the 6th person informed me that they didn't work for reservations.com. This phone number being:I called my TD Credit Card to report the issue and try and cancel this. I want this reservation cancelled; ******* told me it's best not to and let them investigate first. I called the hotel directly and they so the reservation though told me it was booked through "**********". As well, said that if I had booked directly through them that it would have been $698.07 CDN in total with fees and taxes.Business Response

I'm following up again as I've only received an automated response from the reservations.com and am doubting the legitimacy of their offer to refund. The phone number provided in the automated response is the same number described in the original complaint file that doesn't work. Whereas I chose to close the file, I thought it was wise to get in touch again and keep this open until I see the actual refund transaction take place. It hasn't been 24hrs yet though it seems odd. Subject: Urgent Complaint Fraudulent Booking and Deceptive Practices by Reservations.comDear BBB,On March 20, 2025, at 10:20 AM, I attempted to book a hotel stay through ***************. However, I was unknowingly redirected to a fraudulent third-party website, Reservations.com, which deceptively imitated Best Westerns branding, including its images, banners, and pricing in Canadian dollars. This led me to believe I was booking directly with Best Western.Upon receiving a booking confirmation, I immediately realized that all charges were in U.S. dollars with undisclosed fees. Recognizing the deception, I attempted to cancel the reservation within minutes, but every attempt was deliberately obstructed.Despite numerous calls to Reservations.com, their automated system failed to recognize my booking number. When I attempted to speak with a live agent by selecting the option to make a new reservation, my call was repeatedly disconnected the moment I mentioned cancellation. Requests to speak with a manager or supervisor were similarly met with abrupt disconnections.Seeking alternative solutions, I contacted the hotel directly, where I was informed that while they could see the reservation, they had no authority to cancel it. They directed me to Expedia, which denied any involvement in the booking. I was then referred to HotelPlanner, which also confirmed the bookings existence but stated they were unable to assist the cancellation. At this point, with all possible avenues exhausted and no means to cancel, I had no choice but to contact my bank and cancel my credit card to dispute this fraudulent transaction.Reservations.com is engaging in deceptive and unethical business practices, misleading customers, charging undisclosed fees, and making it intentionally impossible to cancel reservations. Date of transition was Sept. 17 2024 for a booking at ******************* in ******** on March 6 2025. Reservation #R1635448. I was charged ******. When I arrived at the hotel I was told the rooms were not paid for and had to pay another ******. After my trip I contacted ************************* I was told that the hotel was going to refund me. I contacted the hotel and they said u was not getting a refund and they were not associated with this booking site. The next communication with the site gave me a name to contact at the hotel.. ***** ******. Hotel have not contacted me back and both entities are accusing the other.
