I entered into a contract with this builder to construct a 2 story gazebo entrance containing stairway, 2 car carport with above open patio, and 6' overhang along the existing structure per the design and structural plans. I was led to believe that permits had been obtained in June, 2021. I was told the permit fee was $3,368.88. No permits were ever obtained. The City of Fellsmere (Safebuilt) informed me that he was issuing Permits, but the contractor requested a meeting to change structural composition (I was never consulted nor approved this request) for on or about April 20, 2022. The meeting was canceled by the builder. I was informed that Safebuilt has heard absolutely nothing from the contractor since the cancellation, however, I was told by the contractor nearly weekly since then, that the their schedules conflicted and the meeting would be the following week. Trusses were dropped on the ground the first week of July, 2021, and, although contractor had a key to the garage, and I made more than one request that they be addressed, they were left exposed to the elements and insects and Safebuilt states that the trusses are now ruined and cannot be used on the project. Last year (2021), I was given excuses as to why the project could not be started such as waiting for parts for the skidsteer/bobcat/equipment and needing to meet with the concrete subcontractor, and apparently they decided between themselves, that the structural supports for the carport should be constructed of concrete and not steel or aluminum as directed by the Structural Engineer. Septic not part of contract was installed & I paid for it. I paid $55,000 UP FRONT and was billed for $6,650 for supposed "COVID19" cost increases! No work as EVER been done, I terminated the contract per its terms but CONTRACTOR FAILED/ REFUSED TO RETURN MY DEPOSIT, OR ANY PART THEREOF, AND KEYS, OR ANY ORIGINAL PLANS. Bldg Application EXPIRED. Fellsmere billed me $763 for Application review as it expired.
