To whom this may concern, my husband and I reached out to Walling Tree Services thinking it was a professional and trustworthy company to remove our large oak tree that fell in our backyard during the most recent hurricane in 2024. January 2025 is when the removal took place. There was no signed contract, we agreed to $2,000 in which was paid in full with two separate checks. Fast forward job upon completion this company dug/ripped through spectrums line without contacting 811 to have it previously marked prior to working. Spectrum showed up at my house and told me what happened. I explained I had no idea they had done that and that he was more than welcome to go in my backyard and fix the problem. ******** stated the company was responsible for calling 811 prior to any work being done and I stated okay, I did not know that because 1 I am not a business owner 2 I dont do this kind of work and 3 how would I know this kind of information? Again, ******** stated it is the companies responsibility to call prior to any work. I thought this was settled until today March 26th, 2025 I received a phone call from ******** stating the tree company said we agreed to pay Spectrum 5,300$ for the damage done to spectrums line. My husband and I never agreed to that and this was news to me. I refuse to pay for public utility damage. There was no contract, just verbal agreement to have the tree removed and the company stated they were not responsible for any damages. When this was said it was about our yard (the grass) due to heavy machinery to remove the large oak tree and our personal property. Never was it mentioned about public utility and I would have never agreed to that nor would my husband. They are trying to use it against my husband and I that we are responsible for paying spectrum when we 1 never agreed to paying for the damages of the spectrum line and 2 my husband and I did not rip up the line. I am praying this reaches the right person and for a resolution. Thank you.
