Hired Footprint Decks to perform deck removal, replacement, and pour new concrete stamped patio. Project has been ongoing for two months and is still incomplete. We voiced our concerns on several small aspects of the project that are still incomplete; our major concern is the end result of the concrete patio. ****** at Footprint Decks contests that everything was done properly and that the concrete patio is as it should be. After speaking with the company, they have served us with a Settlement Agreement and Mutual Release of Funds that contains vague descriptions of the remaining finish work to be completed and prevents us from speaking of or leaving a review of the negative experience weve had. We are normal homeowners who contracted what appeared to be a decent company to help perform a major project at our house for a considerable price. We do not object to paying them once the job is complete, but we are being put into an uncomfortable position by the company by trying to be forced to sign said Settlement Agreement before the job is complete. We would like to file a formal complaint on their business in an effort to warn others of the terrible experience weve undergone the past two months. Attached is a picture of the finished concrete patio. There were numerous other smaller items - nails in the driveway and yard, our gutter that was removed by them and not replaced, dirt dug by the workers and piled in our yard not removed, a utility wire that was dug up and not fully reburied, paint poured in the yard, trash left around house and yard, some unsealed brackets on the railings, and some loose sections of the railings. In short, Footprint Decks has done a very nonprofessional job and is now trying to force us to sign an agreement that makes it so we cant warn others of their unprofessionalism and strong-arming homeowners.Thank you for your consideration.

Good afternoon. Our desired resolution is to have the job completed per the terms of the original contract/agreement. At this point, they have come back to the house and made various touch-*** to the deck. That project is close to being complete at this point. The concrete on the other hand has not been addressed and still appears unfinished. We would like for them to complete the job professionally and for the outcome to look finished evenly throughout the entire patio.

Additionally, it should be noted that the ownership has blatantly lied to my wife and I on several occasions. We would like the complaint to be officially filed in an effort to warn potential future customers of their unprofessionalism, the headache weve dealt with, and overall terrible experience weve had with Footprint Decks - specifically the owner ******. He has been condescending on multiple occasions and has cut every corner possible in an effort to save their business money. Most recent example was a s**** that broke off for one of the railings - ****** instructed his worker **** who was at the house the past two days to simply grind away the sharp edge of the broken s**** and to leave it. Not to remove the s**** and replace as should be done. We spoke with **** and he takes pride in his work and is going to remove properly and replace with a new s**** That is just one of many examples of the terrible experience weve had with the powers at be.

      Thank you for your consideration.

      Hello,

At this point most of the items regarding the deck have been rectified. They still have the s**** issue that I mentioned but it is not a major concern as the final employee was able to install one, even though it is not the correct color pattern.

The concrete patio looks terrible and has still not been addressed. We received a call almost three weeks ago from ***** @ Footprint Decks saying they would come remove and replace the patio at no charge to us. He also ensured us we would not have to work with ****** and all correspondence would be directly with him. We took some time to decide if we wanted to deal with them again, then ultimately responded last week saying we wanted them to fix it because it was not done correctly. We were told they would get in touch with us late last week or this week for a time to come out and look then could determine when the replacement project would start. We have yet to be contacted regarding that meeting and there are only two days left in the week.

In response to consumers complaint, all projects were completed to code and passed all inspections. The consumers did have some requests that would have caused the deck to not be to code. The only issues we were aware of for the concrete patio were the colors the consumers chose, and a few visually imperfect lines that were fixed with free landscaping. The Settlement Agreement mentioned, upon request, was detailed in what work would be performed.Regarding the smaller items mentioned, any nails found in the driveway are not the responsibility of Footprint as we did not do any building work on the driveway, we would be more than happy to come pick up any remaining nails in the yard. The gutter in question was repaired on June 27th, the same day the complaint was filed. Consumers wife was notified on June 9th that the gutter repair would be taken care of, she also responded that same day with how happy they were with how everything was turning out. The dirt removed was distributed amongst the landscaping of the dense trees behind the home, any loose railing and unsealed brackets were also taken care of. As for the utility wire that was dug up and not fully reburied and the paint that was poured in the yard, this was never brought to the attention of Footprint, therefore could not be taken care of. As for the trash that was left, our crew returned to consumers home to clean up site and remove any remaining materials and debris, when consumer pulled his truck in to purposely block driveway, preventing our crew from leaving, ultimately holding them on his property against their will. In conclusion, Footprint Decks has finished this project and has received full payment. No further work will be performed by Footprint as consumers wife sent an email on Monday, July 3rd, at 8:51 AM asking as to, not return to our place of residence.

Please refer to supplemental email with 50 minute audio recording for proof of all claims made below with various timestamps.  Attached are the two short audio clips of the "held against their will" interaction and some additional pictures mentioned below.  The attached audio files can debunk almost all claims made regarding their response.  40 seconds into the 50 minute recording you can hear that we did not actually choose the color that was put down.  As ****** tries to say that they spent several thousand dollars more to order this color directly from the plant, then I clarify that that was not the color we picked and ****** admits that to be the case and that the entire project was not sealed. Throughout the next 23 minutes we reiterate multiple times that the color is not the issue, the issue was the fact that only half of the project appeared to be completed and finished properly regarding the varnish that was applied at the end.  At roughly 5 minutes you can hear the actual grievance in depth and then this theme is repeated almost 10 times throughout the rest of the recording.  Nails in the driveway all material was stored in the driveway for the entire duration of the project.  The entire front deck was cut in the driveway and all materials were there.  In two of the pictures provided (trailer with lumber being removed and the concrete being picked up) you can clearly see nails in both the lumber on the trailer (that was is our driveway) and two nails between the workers feet as he is removing the extra material.  At 35:20 we discuss the exposed cable not properly reburied, then the paint poured in the yard immediately after.  ****** tries to justify this by saying at least its water based.  Blatant/boldfaced lies that this was never brought to the attention of Footprint as you can hear him say he is the President of the company in the recording.

I am rejecting this response because:  of the many many many many falsities being told.  Please view the attached word document responses in RED.  I took Footprint's last response, which changes much of their story from their previous response, and elaborated on every lie being told.  See supporting email from May 24th when majority of issues with concrete were first brought to their attention.  Also see the color we choose (again, THE ***** IS NOT THE ISSUE though), the nails, screws, wood, and other scraps left around our property.  Lastly see the picutre of the patio that they claim has "minor discrepancies" and note how the entire half away from the house is unfinished, both to the look and the touch.

It is a shame that consumers are subjected to shady business practices like these.  I stand by everything I've said from my original complaint to today's response.  Footprint has changed their story on multiple occasions now, and almost every claim I've made is supported with prior correspondence, pictures, and recordings.  You cannot stop people from telling about the terrible experience your company provided.  They can say I am not speaking the truth, but my consistent claims and supporting evidence make it clear and obvious was has occurred.

I will no longer repeat myself.  This is the most dishonest company I've ever had the displeasure of working with.

      Sincerely,
