Dear Better Business Bureau,I was scammed out of $300 by Qubex ************* services in ****** ** on 6/11/2024. I had had a flash drive stolen from home on 5/31/2024 by a burglar who left a duplicate dummy flash drive in the same room which had no data on it and was bent. On 6/7/2024 I brought the bent flash drive to ************* of Qubex ************* with the idea in mind that he was a legitimate technician. He is a scammer. On 6/11/2024 I paid Mr ********* $300 cash for recovered data onto another flash drive. What I did not know was that I had been scammed as the burglar, my brother ******************* had been colluding with Mr ********* and gave him the stolen flash drive taken from my home on 5/31/2024. Mr ********* then copied the stolen data to another flash drive which he gave me. I paid $300 cash for it. I decided to go to Qubex after Mr ********* told me that he did not charge any fee to diagnose the drive to determine the cost to recover the data which can range anywhere from $150-$1200. 2 other data recovery shops told me that they did charge a fee and that the data recovery process would take weeks and or months with shipping across the **. The *** online says: "If it sounds too good to be true it is."Mr ********* was aware that the flash drive I dropped off on 6/7 was bent with no data. He emailed me a phony youtube.com video showing him meticulously working on this flash drive on 6/8 to deceive me that this is what I was paying for. He just copied stolen data to a flash drive and sold it to me. That is fraud. He appeared embarrassed when he returned the disassembled parts to the original flash drive after I requested it. He had disassembled the flash drive overnight when I requested it on 6/12 and gave me the parts in a baggie on 6/13. He disassembled the flash drive overnight to make it appear as if he had done the meticulous work in the video. He did not. I was scammed.

    Dear ****,

I dont quite understand what is the problem. When we have met, you brought a damaged flash drive (bent usb connector) to us for data recovery, since you needed the data from it and could not access it. We have discussed all possible options and offered free evaluation. Evaluation was completed in timely manner and proposal with pricing was sent to you for review. You have reviewed proposal and agreed to proceed with recovery attempt. We have completed recovery in timely manner, as promised and recovered 100% of your data/files. Once recovered, you were given an opportunity to review all recovered files, open them up, verify usability prior to making a payment. You have reviewed all files, i have answered all your questions, you have approved results and made a payment. Recovered data was delivered to you on brand new flash drive. We dont charge people if we dont get the data or if people dont like the result of data recovery. You always have an opportunity to refuse results at the time of a review for whatever reason. You did not refuse results and ACCEPTED them as presented. You have also left us a positive review online for this work order. The video you refer to is ACTUAL work on your flash drive. The fact that you have received your flash drive back is because you requested it. It is obvious that once flash drive is broken it wont be usable again. We have advised you on this, that when we work on your device it will be fixed ONLY TO A POINT THAT WILL ALLOW US TO EXTRACT YOUR DATA, the device itself wont be usable after the process. You have also signed an agreement to agree to ALL TERMS, otherwise we would not be working on your flash drive. I truly believe this complaint has no basis. Sincerely,
