On Sturday October 21st, I accessed my storage Unit since my last access in May. As I approached the unit I can smell a distinct musty/mold smell . Once I opened my unit it was clear it was coming from my unit. I can see white mold growing from a black suitcase and furniture felt wet. My husband then opened a box with his military items and mold had grown all inside. I then went to reach for a box and it was soaked in water and visibly had water damage. I became nauseous from the smell and we left. The next Business Day on Monday I contacted the Manager. She asked for me to meet her and another employee at the unit. They both witnessed the damage I seen. No help or resolution was given to me. I became stressed not knowing how bad the damage was since I could not physically reach my items. I contacted my insurance and they suggested I reach back out and ask to be moved out of the unit to assess the damage and take photos. I called back and another employee went out to look at the damage. I asked to speak to the district manager. By now I had to wait another day so he could come down and look at the damage. I told him I nor my husband who is a disabled veteran could not remove the items. I asked him to help pay for movers and refund my fees. He said he could not do anything. Again stressed that my items were covered in Mold as time went on I had to hire movers. On Sunday OCTOBER 29 , we were able to move the items out. There was damage made to many of my husband military items that had to be thrown out. I reached back out to The district Manager and he stated he couldn't do anything. Clearly they have cameras and they can clearly see no one had access to my unit since May. Now in October my items are wet and they need to figure out if it was their fault. In the meantime I am out $299 for a new storage $750 for movers and items that are irreplaceable. Im getting no answers or help from them. This has caused my Husbdands PTSD to flare up and much stress to our family.
