Was towed by said company, was charged a total of $475 which included $375 tow for 8 miles, and $50/daily storage fee. They had vehicle for less than 16 hours total. Demanded only cash payment, refused a money order purchased just 10 min prior. If they only take cash, are they reporting accurate income and filing taxes accordingly.

    Business Response

It's important a detailed account of this incident is given without leaving out pertinent facts. On July 18th 2024 we were contacted by ****************************** to tow *************************** 2007 ***** Accord due to circumstances beyond our control after normal business hours (M-F 8-5 office and posted impound hours). On July 19th we received a phone call from *************************, ******* wife in reference to picking up the vehicle from our impound. During the telephone conversation with the receptionist, ****** was informed of the $475 fee and the required documentation to retrieve the vehicle. She was also told we accept cash only. Moments later ***** gave us a call and spoke with the receptionist and was provided the cost to retrieve the vehicle ($475) and required documentation. He was also told we accept cash only during the telephone conversation. During the conversation with the receptionist ***** was also informed the rates we have set are approved and regulated through ******************************. He did not agree with the receptionist and proceeded to tell her she lied to his wife regarding the approval and regulation of the fees. ***** then came into our office. He was greeted and asked for documentation to retrieve his vehicle. He presented a money order, and the money order was refused by the receptionist because she initially told he and his wife we accept cash only. He then demanded we accept it because "that was the only form of payment he had" and that it was equivalent to cash. He also stated he needed multiple trails on the money he was paying to get the vehicle out of impound which is not an issue because we do provide receipts. After minutes of insulting our company, threats of lawsuits, and his wife leaving a review on our ****** website accusing us of scamming the *** because we refused the money order, ***** went to his truck and came back with $475 in cash. He was provided with a receipt along with rotation wrecker agreement(breakdown of fees being charged on both) that is approved and regulated by ******************************. We do not accept any forms of payments outside of cash for vehicles that are impounded due to fraudulent disputes. It should be noted storage starts as soon as the vehicle is impounded. This vehicle was impounded on July 18th 2024 and it was released on July 19th 2024. Per the calendar, that is two days of storage.
