The owner/operator does not deal honestly with customers. My parents are 85 and 89 and have mobility concerns. Their walkway in front of the house has been unusable for almost a year because the work promised was not completed. My mother uses a walker and has not been able to use the front door and instead has to try and manage the steps to the garage. The owner/operator met my parents in Home Depot and wrote up a very general list of things he would do (without details), assuring my parents that the details were covered by their conversation. They requested multiple advances on the job ($1200 and then $500 on a $2400 project) for painting a thin already cracking coat of asphalt type material on the driveway (left many cracks and divots), pulling off the 6-8 small sidewalk blocks, and putting up a wood frame to ostensibly prepare the area (~20'x3') for concrete. This was last September and October. Phone calls between those two months were occasionally answered and my parents were given excuses such as someone had surgery, someone had to move to an old age home, all their crew members were fired on the same day, someone wasn't feeling well, supplies were delayed etc. Then came the request for more money to cover supply costs. Both the initial cheque and second cheque were cashed on the day they were issued. After that time, there was no phone, email, or in person contact. The phone goes straight to voicemail and there is no address to go and request a meeting. When we arrived from out of province to see my parents, I called the number using my out of province phone and the owner/operator picked up. He said he was busy, had surgery, and would get to it Wednesday 12 July 2023. That did not happen. Again, there was no contact and when called, the phone went to voicemail.

On August 2nd we met and confirmed that ****** of TPL Asphalt would dig down and lay new asphalt to the aide of our existing driveway and seal our existing driveway. We were told work would start Tuesday. We paid half the job upfront, 1500.00 as we were told he needed the money to order material. After no communication from *****, I called and left several messages. We did get a hold of his wife once who said they had trouble ordering and work would start the following week. At the end of last week, again with no communication I called only to be told we were waiting on locates. On Friday of the second week of waiting with no follow up or communication I called and said we decided to cancel the project and would like our deposit back. He agreed and said he would drop off the money Monday. After repeated calls to arrange a time and messages left, we still have no recieved our deposit nor have we gotten a call to explain why.
