On April 26, 2024, BBB contacted the business regarding claims made on its website and online advertising and requested they be substantiated, modified, or discontinued.
The business advertises “4 Weeks Rent Free” or “First Four Weeks Free” in several areas on their website. Although they are supplying an expiry date, they provide the same offer the next month with a new expiry date. BBB’s Code of Advertising states that retailers can advertise “sales” where they are offering a significant reduction in price for a limited period of time. If companies continually advertise the same discount on a service, then it does not represent actual savings. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate that the offering is indeed a valid price reduction and has not become their regular price.
While the business was initially responsive to our requests, the business has since failed to make the requested modifications and has not provided substantiation for the advertised claims.
