I am a travel nurse doing my second contract with Canadian Health Labs (CHL). I had some issues prior to my first contract with them, mostly being a delay in communication with me, and having things like my ferry and accommodations booked last minute. It was stressful not knowing my assignment location until my day of travel (I knew I was heading to NFLD, but no idea what town), but things got sorted out and the contract ended up going well...so I signed a second contract with CHL on Sept. 28/22 for a start date of Nov. 14/22. That gave them a month and a half to arrange my next assignment (I have done multiple contracts with another company prior to working with CHL and a month and a half has always been more than enough time to do find the unit I'll be working on, give me a name and number or email for the unit manager, book travel, and find accommodations). Four days prior to leaving for my most recent assignment, I got asked if I would be okay with a start date of November 24th instead since they couldn't find a unit for me...we are in a national nurse shortage, so you cannot tell me there's not a unit that does not need me. I said "no" because I have bills to pay. Also, the unit they had found for me was a surgical unit, when I am a medical nurse (we have different skill sets), so I asked them to find me a medical unit. They did, and with a start date of Nov. 14. I was on my way to NFLD when I got a call that they changed my location because the other town did not have pet-friendly accommodations for me. Again, fine, but why wasn't this looked into weeks ago? I arrived yesterday and still had not received info on what floor I would be on, so reached out to CHL (I figured it was overlooked to pass that along). I found out that they did not have the name of the unit or manager and would not have any info until today (Monday), since no one was in the offices on the weekend. It is now Monday, and I still have no info about what unit I'll be on.
