Transactions pertinent to this complaint: 1) On November 25th, I paid Mr Swift $2500 via e-transfer for 5 violins: a. *** brown pegs, b. *** Black pegs, c. ************, d. **** and e. Conservatory violins. Mr Swift had agreed he would take back the violins if I was unable to privately resell them. 2) On December 3rd I returned 2 violins, the **** and Conservatory violins and used that credit + another e-transfer for $750 to purchase another violin, called ********. No credit was issued for the **** and Conservatory violins I had returned, as the value of the return plus $750 was used against the ********. 3) I was unable to sell the ******** as Geoff was valuing it at $5000 while an expert had valued at less than $1000. Keep in mind at that point I trusted Mr Swift as he had agreed to take back the ******** if I failed to sell it. So I returned the ******** on December 6th and paid $3000 towards another violin, made by ****** *****. Essentially paying $3750 for the *****. I subsequently discovered that Mr Swift was using ***** ********' name to ******* me, essentially claiming that Mr ********, who is a well known and reknowned luthier in Toronto, had given him the value of the violins, and the ***** was worth $8000, when in reality, they were only worth a few hundreds. He also failed to disclose several issues with the violins, especially the fact that they had been stripped and revarnished. I was able to get Geoff to refund me $3000 for the ****** ***** violin, and have returned that violin back to him however he has not refunded the $750 which I paid for the ******** and returned to him back in early December, which he has for sale on ******. I have contacted Mr Swift and provided proof of all the transaction and requested the full credit for the violin or $750 to be refunded.
