      Very poor communication, refused to provide a quote of any kind despite multiple requests yet expected a 10k non-refundable deposit just to secure their services, could not provide a timeline of when work could start, charged $300 for a consult and still didnt provide the information required to make an informed decision. Gave them several chances to make the situation right. They showed no interest in doing so, so I moved on to a more up front contractor. You want me to give you 10K with no timeline or cost estimate whatsoever? No. When confronted regarding my concerns, the owner became defensive and aggressive in response. Read their contract very carefully before you sign it.

      We are sorry you feel unhappy and wronged in this situation. We genuinely believe we did everything possible to inform you of our process. In our detailed email to you before you booked your consultation and in multiple follow-up emails, we mentioned that we cannot accurately quote a project until the design and scope is clearly understood. Particularly in a place like yours thats not in great condition and has unknown variables at play including the selection of your finishes. Having said that, we did provide a general estimate of how much we anticipated your project would cost and offered to work within your budget. We spent an additional 40 minutes beyond your booked design consultation time, gave on the spot design suggestions, pointed out areas of concern related to water ingress and requested a minimal deposit compared to our typical contracts. Our time is valuable and we are confident in the value we provide during our consultations. You booked and received a valuable service knowing it was not refundable.We agree about the importance of reading our contract carefully. We always want our clients to be informed and thoroughly understand the process. Our contract is transparent and clearly outlines that any unused portion of a deposit is returned should either party terminate the contract.We are glad you found a contractor that youre happy with. We wish you the best and hope your renovation goes smoothly.
