  Beware is the best advice I can offer after two experiences with Take a Load Off Moving Ltd. (TALO). This is what I have learned to expect from them: They will be late. On the first move, they were 3 hours late because a driver had called in sick. That can happen, and I thought it forgivable. Two years later on the second move, they were 4 hours and 40 minutes late. Again “a driver called in sick”. Apologies were offered on both occasions, but that did nothing to mitigate the exhaustion experience by this senior caused by a 9-hour moving day for a 550 square foot space. They will lose something. On the first move, vacuum cleaner attachments went missing. I didn’t notice this until the next day so too late to report. On the second move, two woven baskets and a 3-foot silk plant went missing. This I noticed and reported within an hour of the team leaving but I received only repeated assurances of how important my concern was and how “Our top priority as your go-to home moving company is the protection and safety of your possessions”. Nice words, no action. There will be damage to something. On the first move, the leg of a dresser was loosened and bent and the frame of a folding table was slightly bent. On the second move, there was damage to a leg on each of two recliners, a chip out of a wooden kitchen table, and slight damage to the finish of a TV stand. Again, I was far too tired to notice these things before the team left, so too bad for me. The team will be friendly and personable. Fairness demands that I report the good as well as the negative. Justin and Jason were both very pleasant to deal with and are good ambassadors for TALO. This is the first negative review I have ever posted in any circumstance but conscience dictates that I alert unsuspecting potential clients of the pitfalls that I met with on two separate encounters with Take A Load Off Moving Ltd.

  Good thing they called me prior to arrival (late arrival) as they were headed to my new address to pick up my belongings. Don't forget to inspect each room thoroughly when they are loaded up and on their way, as I had to go back 3 times to pick up things they forgot. I received calls from the cleaners letting me know about the remaining items. While I was doing that, they were busy unloading and were outside waiting for payment upon my final return (3rd trip). I paid them more than was quoted, I tipped them sadly and then when I went in the house, I noticed my large very expensive kitchen table had a chunk out of the top and the turntable wasn't working. There was also damage to the BBQ lid and chips out of some clay decor, irreplaceable. I didn't notice everything immediately obviously as it takes time to go through the mess of a fresh move unpack. I naturally complained and was told I needed to identify all damage prior to them leaving. Haha, are they staying while I continue to pay them while we unpack??? Highly not recommended.

  I have used this company twice now and both times the lads have been professional and communicate with you every step of the way. They take good care of your belongings. They are on time and only take their necessary breaks. I highly recommend them.

  I was provided an estimate for unloading a 20ft truck that took two men four hours to load. Clear details about the contents and my building were provided. Two men arrived to unload and after an hour, decided to get a third person to assist. Ultimately, they took five hours to unload, and I was charged double the estimated price. I gave two stars because they did unload the truck.

  We had an entirely positive moving experience with this company. The crews were just brilliant, the organisation faultless and the price very reasonable. Highly recommended.

  ** *** **** **** ************ *** **** * **** *** *******we got them to move our stuff and boy did they change there price more,than what was originally told.We asked for a 26 ft. truck and got a quote for one,but they decided to bring a 32 ft.without our knowledge.When the truck was 3/4 full they advised us there would be a little difference in price. When I received the bill,it was $900+ more! **** ** ****** I had made prior arrangements for our extra items to be moved at a later date by family. We would have utilized our prior arrangements,if we knew the bill was going to cost that much extra! When we tried to talk to them about the bill they said that’s the price,and if we didn’t ya he entire bill ,we would be charged interest daily.This is totally unprofessional and I wouldn’t recommend them to anybody,move anything .**** ****** ** ******* ** *** *** **** **** **** *** **** ***** **** *** ** *** **** ***** *** ***** * Not happy

  ********* ********* ****** ** **** * **** *** ******* **** *** ****** ******* * ****** ** ****** ** **** ******** *** *** ****** Moving day, Dec. 30th,/22 the guys were suppose to be at my apartment at 11:00am, they walked into my apartment at 8:00am. * **** ** ***** **** *** ***** *** *** **** ***** ***** the appointment was for 11:00, look at my sheet they said I have 8:00am, Your time is wrong. I lived on the second floor, 10 feet from the movers elevator. I had moved everything from my apartment to the movers elevator, except for 15 boxes, which I was going to move to the elevator, before the guys show up 3 hrs ahead of scheduled . I had the elevator booked at my new apartment in Campbell River between 3- 4 pm. So these moving guys were taking their time to load the truck. It took them 2 1/2hrs to load, they could of loaded in 1 1/2 hrs. So 1 1/2 hrs @ $120,00 = $180.00 To unload it took longer because the distance from the truck to the elevator and from the elevator to my apartment it took them 3 1/2 hrs. So total hrs to load and unload took 5 hrs @ $120.00 = $600.00, final bill 7.25 hrs @ $120 =$870.00 = $270.00 difference. ** **** *** ** **** ******* Travel time from Nanaimo to Campbell River is 1 1/2 hrs, return travel travel time is 1 1/2 hrs for a total of 3 hrs So 3 hrs @ $120.00 = $360.00, final bill 4.75hrs @ $120.00 =$570 difference $210.00. ****** *** ****** *** ****** *** ** * ***** **** ** ****** ******** **** ** ****** *** ** * **** ** ****** ** **** ** **** ** ***** ********* ** **** *** The mover who prepared the final bill, I got into an argument with him regarding the cost. I paid the bill and said to myself, I will recover what is owed to me. Total cost for a one bedroom move $1,702.00, way too much. ** **** ****** ** ******* **** ******** **** ****** ******* ** *** **** *** ****** ***** **** ***** ***** *** **** ** ** *** ***** ** **** * ***** ** ***** ****** ****** I emailed them a week ago, asking for credit of $390.00. No response.

  Amazing. From the initial phone call for a quote and information about a move to the moving day, my experience with them was fantastic. Rebecca was so helpful and so efficient, explaining everything in detail. I was able to get all of my questions answered and a day set up for my move, within 10 minutes of my call. The 2 fellows who moved me were on time, friendly, happy, quick and very careful, making the actual move such a good experience. I would HIGHLY recommend Take A Load Off Moving Ltd. to anyone and everyone!
